Stewart with another crazy run. Carolina is for real. You run like that and you'll do fine in the playoffs.
The Madden Cruiser may stay in the New Jersey area for a couple weeks. There is a decent shot the final two regular season games on NBC will be- Panthers at Giants, Week 16 Dolphins at Jets, Week 17
Ha! I just finished playing Madden and I turn on ESPN and Gruden got the full Chuckie look so that pretty much explained it all. Good for Carolina, I was pulling for them.
That...gentlemen is how you close out a fucking game. That's how you keep your foot on the opponents throat and you don't let off the gas until they're completely dead on the field. Good game Panthers. Hopefully, one day, the NY Jets can learn to play football like you guys. That's how you take a stronghold of the #1 position in your Division and you don't let it go.
Williams' huge game may have bumped me up a bit as far as total points scored in the regular season is concerned. This is some ridiculous shit, guys. My team began 0-7 in large part due to injuries to Carson Palmer, Brian Westbrook, and Marques Colston. My other top pick was Andre Johnson and he being out of action due to a hurricane in Week 2 crushed my hopes that week. Well, anyway, I finished 6-8 and was 4th in total points an hour ago. I might have moved up to 2nd or 3rd. You ever have schedule luck this weird? For all intents and purposes, my team was eliminated from the playoff picture in late September, but I've had the best team since October.
Yep. In my main money league I didn't make the playoffs by 1 game but was 3rd in scoring prior to this week. I won game 1 of the toilet bracket this week thanks to P.Manning, Stewart, and Miami's D. I'm now #2 in overall scoring. Also like you, I ran into the week's highest scorer almost every week while I was 2nd or 3rd for the week. This is why H2H is a crapshoot. Play rotto NBA, NHL, MLB imo
My schedule luck is as bad as it gets. Teams average almost twice their regular average when facing me.
This shit was really bad in my leagues this year. In one league, a competitor started 1-7 but lead the 12-team league in scoring! That's almost impossible. But getting back to what I posted above about my team, specifically I have never been witness to such an odd season. I have played in close to 50 leagues dating back to 2000. Never have I seen a team, for all intents and purposes, eliminated from the postseason picture before the calendar turned to October and then see the same team dominate the league over the second half of the season. My team finished 3rd in points scored, trailing the 2nd guy by 4 or 5 points and the leader by 20 or so. My team has 3 of the top 8 highest weekly point totals. I own the top two scores. I'm the only one to go over 141 points and I did so with scores 156.38 and 156.08. (I haven't calculated what the average score was, but it's probably in the high 90s or low 100s.) This was a 10-team league with only 4 teams making the playoffs. Once my team started 0-4, there wasn't realistically much of a shot to make the playoffs.
I played NHL one time six or so years ago. I'm just not enough of a hockey fan to play. NBA I play every couple years. I just didn't want to bother this year. I do like fantasy baseball, but I enjoy h2h there. To me, schedule luck doesn't play a huge role there. I often times make lineup decisions based on my opponent is doing. But fantasy football is almost asinine. There has to be a fantasy football site out there somewhere that would make total points scored more valuable than just being a tiebreaker for playoff berths and playoff seeding. I want to see a league where the top 4 scorers qualify for the playoffs and THEN go to W-L-T record to determine the other playoff spots.
You can play rotto football just good luck getting your average fan to play it. I tried getting a league going on multiple forums this year to no avail. Even among gambling circles, it's hard to find people to play it. Rotto hoops, hockey, and baseball work because you really have to be a diehard to play either of those leagues. Fantasy football has the largest amount of "casual" fans who would never sign up for a rotto league because it doesnt have the "thrill of playing someone every week". H2H Football is truly the weaksauce of all fantasy play
After years of only h2h action, I may run a roto baseball league in 2009. I ran a h2h midseason league in 2008 and came up with a great mix of settings and stat categories. And yeah, h2h football is the "weaksauce." I don't have to look much further than my three teams of 2008. Team A- has been dominant the past 7 weeks; it's been as good a 7-week span as I've ever seen Team B- has an RB corps of LenDale White, Chester Taylor, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Jerious Norwood, Derrick Ward, and Peyton Hillis. Laurence Maroney was a 3rd round draft choice. Jake Delhomme was the QB in 12 of the 14 weeks. Wide receivers were the 1st and 2nd round draft selections. (Never had I gone WR-WR in Rounds 1 and 2.) Team C- was a returning keeper league team. It had made the playoffs in all four of the previous years and was 1-1 in title games. The team began this season 6-3 and THEN got better. Its best scoring efforts came down the stretch of the regular season. One would think Teams A & C made the playoffs and Team B stayed home. Nope. Just the opposite. Team A: 6-8, no playoffs Team B: 7-6, playoffs, won 1st round game Team C: 6-7, no playoffs
I prefer total points to determine things because that means the best make the playoffs. H2H is about luck, but apparently people prefer it.
Well looks like we got at least 3 people for rotto football for next season, just need 9 more. I'm down for any stakes even if it's free so long as it's competitive.
