That was really dumb. We finally sacked their QB, it's 2nd and 20 and we rush only 3 guys in an obvious passing situation. That could be fine if we had dominant pass rushers but we have none of those.
And Crennell helped win a Super Bowl with a couple of homeless men and Troy Brown playing cornerback. I'm not saying Mangini wasn't hampered by his personnel, but calling what he did in NE 'great' is quite a stretch.
The Jets play very predictable football. i know what they are going to do in almost all situations. i'm sure NFL coaches know a lot more than me too, so this cannot help us.
It almost seemed like they were rushing only 3 all game long. Pressure causes mistakes.....Mistakes cause turn overs....Turn overs lead to points. Pressure the freaking QB it won't hurt anything.
It seems to me that every time we got the niners in a drive where they got in a 1st and 20 or 2nd and 20 situation they always managed to convert for a first. I mean if you can't stop those drives then you're screwed.
I think you're right on the money. I also think we could put something together, but my hope has been decreasing the last couple of weeks, just like you and every other fan that knows what's going on. Whatever change it is that they do, and/or however they do it, something needs to happen, because whatever this is, whatever kind "football" we think we're playin is not working at all.
I often get the feeling that this coaching staff is trying to prove how much more they know about football than everyone else by avoiding the obvious choices.
spagnola or rex ryan would be more likely to take the job. and, i would not mind buddy ryan coming in and kicking tanny back to be the contracts only guy. like when the tuna came in and booted every body out, except gutman, which cost us belichek. i stiill believe that gutman was the guy who pissed off belichek and caused him to flee to foxboro.
the direct opposite of what sf defense, giants defense, philly defense , and ravens defense does. the buddy ryan and jimmy johnson tree guys don't play passive defense.
I noticed that most of our blitzes in the game either were like 3 or 4 man rushes or we did an all out Blitz...basically the worst blitz callings ever
Mangini needs to just take over the playcalling completely...But he will crawl into his shell and not do it. Sutton just doesn't have a clue...Whats funny is when we actually blitz...The QB throws a quick 7-8 yard slant. Like the QB knows exactly what to do with whatever Sutton calls... Doesn't mix it up like...Pittsburgh?
