I put a positive spin on the Denver loss, saying that it was just a let down game after a huge win against an undefeated team and that we could still win the two seed because of Pittsburgh's tough schedule (etc, etc), so I will come out and say that I took this team winning the AFC east for granted. I thought Denver, was a bad loss but I never thought we would lose to SF. I posted that I thought we would be hearing about how we sucked all week after Denver and we would go out ot SF and beat up on the 49ers. I was cocky going into the game and a lot of my posts indicated as much. I still think this team has a chance to win the division because they have three winnable games, and IF they manage to win all of them, they will offiicially be champions of the AFC East. Whether or not they do what they are supposed to do and win these last three games, I can no longer predict with ANY confidence. My belief in the team was greatly shaken today. My gut tells me that this team (a team that always manages to play to the level of it's competition and never handles prosperity well) will win it's last three games and clinch the AFC east with a victory over the phins in week 17. But then again, my gut told me that we would crush the 49ers after a lackluster performance against the Broncos. What does my brain tell me? I'm not sure. It's still in shock from this inexcusable and inexplicable loss.

Even though I like our current uniforms WAY MORE . . . I can't say that I'm against this idea.

you want a positive spin. The Jets are still in first place, and control their own destiny. Am i happy right now. No? But if they win out, Playoffs...

I am optimistic when the evidence calls for optimism and pessimistic when the evidence calls for pessimism. I was optimistic after the Titan game since there was no real reason not to be. Similarly I am pessimistic right now because there is no real reason to be optimistic.

I don't care about making the playoffs; I care about being a good team. If we make the playoffs right now we look like cannon fodder for whoever we play.

Just Relax. Everybody is pissed off because the Jets look like the SOJ all over again. The playoffs start next week against Buffalo!

True, you have every right to. It doesn't change the fact that you are pathetic for doing so. In that case, you sir can shut it.

I'm not sure why I am getting called out here, I have never called out any "darksiders", never bumped a post saying I told ya so. Sure I was optimistic after back to back huge road wins but as a long time Jets fan knew this is always a possibility. I'm not exactly sure what you want me to say here, I'm as disgusted by their performance as anyone. I do remain hopeful by the fact that we are still in first place and control our destiny. There are still 3 games left and we have a chance to right our wrongs. We'll see how it plays out.

    BTW, who are you again?

Yea the loss sucks and we played pathetic! I was ashame to watch this team yesterday. But as Ellis said in his post game interview ...if there was a time to be behind your team more it is right now! We need to be behind them next week when they arrive back home with a loud crowd and keeping butts in the seats! We need to run the table otherwise we are pretty much finished.

So lets get through this loss, will take a couple days but lets turn it around and get back on track!

    Go JETS!

I'm not much for inciting arguments among Jet fans, except for the Chad Fans, of course, but that's another story.

But the OP is a bit onto something, even if I would have said it differently. Being a fan of a team does not require blind optimism, and those here called darksiders have a right to point out that blind optimism was inappropriate. This team has disappointed the blind optimists.

No all he is saying IMHO is that all of U that blindly posts only positives about the team & berate those who posts negatives are just quite silly. So if his shoe fits U then wear it proudly

OK, they looked awful the last two weeks and the defense looked shitty for the past two weeks. Some of you were getting WAY ahead of yourselves and talking about the number one seed and getting a bye and now many of us are here and very unoptomistic about even making the playoffs. We are now in a three-way tie for the division even though we hold the tie breaker.

Now, we've seen this team tear it up on offense as they were one of the league's best offenses just a couple weeks ago. We consistently shut down the run against the best running teams and we held our ground against the pass enough to win. The good news is, physically, this is still the SAME TEAM! We haven't lost anyone to injury and have even got back David Harris. They looked downright AWFUL on offense and defense last the last two weeks, but WE'RE STILL IN IT! If they win the remaining three, WE WIN THE DIVISION.

We beat Buffalo WITH Trent Edwards and now they face them at home with JP LOSMAN. This is a team that has lost 6 of its last 7.

Seattle is another extremely lousy team, and even though we've lost to teams like that before, this team is more than good enough to BEAT THEM BY ALOT!

We beat Miami on the road earlier in the year and now they'll come up to a freezing cold Meadowlands with the season on the line.

Now, based on how they've played, winning even two out of the three games would seem quite improbable. But remember, this VERY TEAM was considered top 3 in the NFL just over two weeks ago! They CAN WIN. We are not the LIONS. The potential to the run tables is DEFINATELY 100% THERE!!!! You have to believe its POSSIBLE! All it will take is a few adjustments and maybe more importantly, a little PASSION.

This team looked bad the last two weeks, but this is over. They need to LEARN FROM THE LAST TWO WEEKS! Buffalo is coming to town on Sunday and it's a MUST WIN. It'll just take a little confidence and spirit from this team and from the fans, but IT'S NOT OVER!!

IT IS NOT OVER! THIS TEAM IS MORE THAN CAPABLE OF WINNING OUT!! Who thinks they don't have the talent and abilitiy to win out!!??

I loved the Jets when they were 1-15 and will continue to do so as long as there is breath in my body. Losses suck and they hurt. Hope is all we have so why not cling to it. I like wearing the Jets colored glasses. Whats wrong with sticking with your team NO MATTER WHAT. Isn't that what we are supposed to do as Jets fans? Go Jets!

I agree with this. It reminds me of the people who think it's wrong to criticize the country you love. I LOVE my country, but will call it out in a heartbeat when it's heading in the wrong direction. It's less patriotic, in my opinion, to sit aside and say nothing. On a much smaller level, same with the Jets. I love this team and will bleed Jet green even if we go 0-16. That said, I will also call out the shit when I see it. And we should be righteously indignant at what's going on with our team. I don't think (or hope) he's saying stop rooting for the team. I think what he's saying is, we're playing like shit, being coached like shit, and we should be pissed, and right now, it's not looking too good for us. Nothing wrong with that.

Yep. Totally agree. In fairness to last week's optimists, I see some mea culpas, or just a quiet acceptance of reality today.
