I know the Jets have shown nothing in the last 2 weeks that would suggest they are capable of being the team we thought they were after Tennessee. But let's say I'm trying to be optimistic and hoping the Jets start to win some games. How much would it take for us all to start believing again that this team has a chance to do something this year? I mean, if they win against Buffalo, everyone will say that Buffalo's already given up on the season and the Jets are still not contenders. If they beat Seattle the next week, people may comment on what an awful record Seattle has, so it still doesn't prove anything. So, what do you all think the Jets would have to do to get you believing again?
If they lose again next week I'll burn my jersey and stick to basketball. Believe in them? 11-5 and I'll think about it, until then I'm not real interested.
I continue to believe but I will only be convinced if they win out. They still control there own destiny, but that can all change with a loss to Buffalo. The 49ers are a completely different team in the 2nd half of the season and Denver is Bi-polar so im not taking those 2 losses as hard as half this board. If we lose to Buffalo or any of the remaining teams I will start looking towards next year.
A commitment to what got us to the top of the AFC East for the next 3 weeks will be a start. I need to see Schotty commit to the run even if we're down a score or 2 up to the 3rd quarter. Finish the season with 3 wins. Show improvement in the pass defense and some ability to adjust to the spread formation that has been killing us since the second half of the Pats game when used by opponents.
I haven't closed out the season on the Jets yet. All they're doing to me right now is breaking my achy-achy heart and I just don't think they understand... ...on a serious note, I still believe they CAN run the table and Wildcard their way into the playoffs. What I'm trying to consider right now is, do we try and keep our 2nd rounder, and say fuck it? Or do we lose it and watch us get destroyed in the playoffs? A 2nd would be nice to keep next year since I'd like for us to draft a ILB/CB or S (no specific order).
You know, at this point that would be awesome, and I would love it. But to get the confidence back, meaning confidence going forward? Unfortunately it would take something more than 3 mediocre wins against teams they should beat. 1. Improved pass D, including pass rush. 2. Get the wideouts back into the passing attack, requiring they get separation and don't give up on their routes. 3. Use the running game consistently and to effect. That might seem like alot, but without those three and three wins to close out the season, I doubt this team is going anywhere in the playoffs.
If we win out convincingly, I'll start believing again. Backing into the playoffs won't do it, we have to destroy the next 3 teams.
It's pretty simple; they have to win out. I want them to beat the Bills convincingly; not a tight game, but I want the Jets to dominate and give the Bills a whoopin. The Jets will have to go to Seattle and kick their rears. The Jets will have to play the Phins hard and win in the 4th quarter. While this will still not completely quell the doubt, it will help.
Definetly. What i ahve seen as a huge problem the last 2 weeks is that the Jets have a huge problem seeing themselves down on the scoreboard. Even if it is only by 7 pts in the 1st qtr. I know i've already said this, but what worked vs Tennessee so well, was long sustained drives and a lot of time of possesion. There is no reason the Jets shouldn't still stick to that down by just 7 pts. Instead,i saw a desperate offensive playcalling, abandoning everything the jets do well. I saw stupid, stupid long throws on a prayer that had no chance of being anything other than an incompletion of interception. Shotgun empty backfield on all 3rd downs, even if it was short yardage. Gotta get back to what works, keeping our D off the field.while wearing theirs down.
A balanced effort offensively and defensively. A game where we stop the run, pressure the QB, get a 100 yard effort from TJones, and Favre completes at least 60% of his passes with a YPA that is at least 7.
u never give up playoffs, please dont even go there if we get in its on a 3 game win streak granted we lose to inferior teams but where is the team that we have no chance against? pitt -they dont score and should have lost yesterday tenn - we drilled them indy- if we get them it is at home
Indy is starting to look like a dark horse team that will make some noise in the Playoffs. They are starting to get healthier and they have played consistently good since early on in the year when they were beat up and losing games they shouldn't have. Would not be surprised to see them in the SB.
I'd like to see them put ONE ghost to rest. Be it the "can't win on the west coast" ghost. Or even the "can't make adjustmente" ghost. Either one would make me think this franchise's field personnel finally gets it.
what the hell is with this mentality? "well,if i was told in August that we would be 8-5 with a shot,i'd have been happy,so......" WTF? i've seen that few times today. As far as i'm concerned, beating NE and Tenn raised the bar
