http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80d0d10a He's tired of being the boy scout, now he's finally talking about how bad the team is. No way he re-signs. Would make a good Jet.
I would be all over that like flys on shit. Anything to help this pathetic pass D. The next step is getting a LB that can cover, because we all know Pace, Thomas, Barton, and Harris aint cuttin it...
2 great cornerbacks never seem to work out.. honestly it will be more disappointing for us when we still cant stop the pass becuse our lbs cant cover and when you rush 3 and give the qb all day to throw he will still pick us apart..
Can players refuse to be franchised? I thought they had no say. What big name free agent would want to be franchised? There's so many better teams that can give you more money.
they can refuse to sign the contract. it never works out because then their options are dont play that year and make 0 money or play and make the average of the top 5 contracts at that position. obviously when it comes down to it they take the money and play.
He'll be franchised, they won't need to worry about him re-signing. Now that won't stop a team from signing him and giving up a 1st and 3rd, but the Raiders won't lose him for nothing.
What he should've done going into THIS year is get tell them he'll get franchised this year, as long he doesn't get franchised the next. I recall this kind of scenario happening with LB's (Suggs and Briggs to be exact).
I think Lowery will be ok in time. We should work on a pass rush then a cover linebacker before putting more millions in the secondary.
It worked for the Raiders when they had Hayes and Haynes. Thats why crazy al keeps drafting DBs, he's trying to relive his glory years.
You know, crazy al is so sensitive to criticizism, if Aso talks to the media enough that might be his ticket out of the Oakland insane asylum.
Anybody ever seen A Bronx Tale? The saddest thing in life is wasted talent. Not only is he without question the best Raider, he may be the best cornerback in the league. He seems like an absolutely dominant player and a total class act. This is the first time I've ever seen his face. Obviously, he's disappointed. He's wasting his golden years on the Raiders. This is a point I've made about the franchise tag for sometime now. If you're a good enough player to make the average of the top five players at your position in the league, chances are you aren't that concerned about money. If you're that good, you want to win. If you're that good, you want to play for a team that loves you and wants you to retire in their jersey. You want a chance at a ring or a ticket to Canton. Big money for a year of arbitrary service is a lesser priority. Unfortunately, the NFLPA isn't made up of only the great athletes or only the players who want to win. It's made up of all the players, and a great deal of those players don't see a fault in getting big money for a year's work, regardless of which team writes the check. And that's why no progress is going to be made towards amending the current salary cap criteria and Nnamdi Asomugha's talent will continue to go wasted.
Players can refuse to sign the tag but would be ineligible to play anywhere else, good thing the rule is u cant franchise a player 3 straight years, which this would the 3rd year.
1 shut down corner is plenty.....and we have it in revis. the best antedote for this pass defense is to improve the pass rush and improve speed at the linebacker position.
I have to agree. This team needs to generate a pass-rush (which it has the talent to do). A safety opposite Rhodes wouldn't hurt either...
