Today I was embarrassed to be a Jets fan.... I watched the game with 2 TVs on. The Jets game and the Cowboys game. I saw a stark contrast in how those teams are run, both on and off the field. There are two ideologies with these teams and they are not alike in any way - One team wants success, the spotlight, and to be known as the best. The other team never handles success well and when they are successful they are soon to turn the other way as if they are afraid to be the best team that year. One team loves to smack you in the mouth and know they hurt you, the other tries to just get by you and hey, maybe get that W.

Seeing the teams play at the same time made me realize that my favorite team in sports does not reflect my way of living. I don't shy away from success, I embrace it and I continue to strive for more. I will continue to root for this team, but i know that they will never be like me. It makes me embarrassed to know them. It makes me look down upon them, as if I'm some sort of elitist who thinks he's above something. Maybe thats not the case, maybe its the fact that this team's ideology and culture is below my standards.... how sad, i'm don't ask much from anyone.

I won't give up on them, perhaps there is a Cowher and a Rothlisberger out there for the Jets too. Or a Manning and Dungy. Somewhere those people exist and they'll find there way to the team and make them successful. The last time a Jet basked in the spotlight and wanted to win, it was 40 years ago. And he wasn't the greatest in the world, he just wanted it more than everyone else. It makes me sick to think that no one ever used him as a mold for this franchise. They are the Anti-Namaths. How can a team go in the opposite direction of what that man laid before them - a map for success.

I am truly embarrassed, but it'll all come around. But they need people like me, and people like the Cowboys have to do well. The minds inside that franchise are nothing impressive.

I'm embarrassed for you that you get embarrassed by how a football team performs on the field. That can't be normal.

    It all starts with Identity.
    We have none.

  4. No..it never turns around. Once we end this season 8-8..it'll be 1994 all over again..we'll hire Scott Linehan as HC and will 4 games over the next 3 seasons. It just never gets any better.

essentially, what you're saying is that the 2008 NY Jets are not a playoff ready team under this regime...and they need to blow it up and start from scratch (kinda like what the Ravens & Falcons did - new coach, new QB)

and I...sir...tend to agree with you.

your posting on a jets message board...so obviously you care about the jets maybe more than others....but your just being sarcastic and annoying and probably one of those people who identify with the jets making you a failure...this would explain why your confused by ndmick's statement

When you watch the game with 5 Cowboys fans, it gets really embarrassing.

So losses against the Raiders and Broncos are okay, but we lose to the Niners and you give up on this time, and hypocritically say all the same things that you've been railing on people for even hinting at before?

This team has played at this level 2 weeks in a row, it's not something new. And we've had problems all year. You can't just ignore everything before and then all of a sudden change your tune. You just pulled a Spitzer.

What happened to being a team that runs well and stops the run well? That's still working, but the rest of the plan is falling apart.

The cowboys had a pretty embarrassing loss themselves. They got outscored 17-0 in the 4th quarter after totally controlling the game. The guys you were watching the games with must be on suicide watch right now.

I'd just like to find people who intimidate others and winning is the only thing that matters to them... like me.

I don't see it with anyone on this team. My signature has the biggest pussy of them all refered to. He is the anti-namath, he is the anti-me. He needs to go to the Lions.

If I bought the Lions, i could turn them into a good franchise. Trust me, I don't like to lose, but they seem to.

The Jets are just scared little animals who get swallowed whole when the big dogs realize that the little muskrat is making too much noise in the jungle that is the NFL.

I'm home so I haven't seen it. But I'm refering to the 1st half. Wow that sucks for them, just read the NFL .com recap.

I'm going back to that house later, maybe not a good idea.

well..when Stevie Wonder is a better option at DC than your current DC....things tend to fall apart at the seams.

This team needs a clean slate....time to start fresh...from top to bottom.

Um what? Yes obviously I'm a Jets fan and care just as much as anyone. I don't get embarrassed by something I have no control over, like my favorite football teams performance. Now disappointed is a whole different story.
