The Broncos' strategy surprised Coles and the Jets coaches. They figured the Broncos would be hesitant to focus on one player, leaving themselves vulnerable in other areas. But Denver put its top cornerback, Dre Bly, on Coles and kept him there. Bly also had the security of deep help by the safety. In theory, that should've created plenty of opportunities in the passing game, but the only player who got open consistently was rookie tight end Dustin Keller (seven catches for 77 yards). "It was hard to get me the ball," said Coles, who didn't make a catch until garbage time. "We really didn't anticipate that type of coverage."
So is Mangini supposed to anticipate every strategic move made by the opposition? I don't understand what the big deal is here.
i really can't blame the coaches for this one. cotch had his worst game ever as a pro. and the d really did suck this game, they couldnt tackle at all. i dont think it was a situation like if only mangini would've walked over to cotch and said "hey jericho can you please stop fucking up?" and then poof like magic he's back to his old self. same goes for the d, like guys can u wrap up and tackle on first contact? its just not the same game if we don't make all those errors. lets judge his coaching by the san fran game, if the team comes out on fire, u know he's doing his job and doing it well!
Definitely outcoached. I'm still upset about that fumble/defensive TD by the Broncos. What a horrible call by the officials. That TD put a sense of urgency on the Jets coaching staff for some reason. They seemed to think that playing from behind means we have to throw it a lot. Ridiculous.
It seems to be the theme for this Broncos game... I haven't really felt that we've been outcoached in other contests this year, but this one was pretty clear. Players expressing surprise that hte Broncos used so many bubble screens, then these comments from Coles. My problem is not that the Broncos did things we did not expect... but that we did not adjust!
I know we all love our players, and think it always falls on coaching staff, well this one does not. every coach in history has had games that can be said his players looked unprepared, guess what this is not college or HS I am sure Mangini worked longer and harder then anyone on thanksgiving day and cant take the blame for this one, Favre had a bad rain game, Jenkins - has to get a pass but seemed a bit off the other day and yes Cotchery had bad bad game, we have no idea how far that reverse might have gone for or what happens if he makes the 4th down catch. and by the way Shannahan is hell of a coach, so yes if his players executed his plan better then our players then I guess he gets credit for better coaching on sunday. week to week is mangini a better coach then jeff fischer I dont think so he certainly oatcoahed last week though.
Mike Shanahan has won some games in his career, a couple of them came with big trophy presentations at the end. Add to that what Tballz said, Cotchery had some chances for big plays he usually makes that he dropped. It's not like we didn't have chances or got blown out, we lost a game. Like many others I'd like to have seen more Thomas Jones the way he was going, but it's not the end of the world. This week we play Mike Singletary, not to be confused with Mike Shanahan.
I stand by that 100%. He is in the bottom 5 of coaches in this league. Like I have said a few times before, when we win it is in spite of him, not because of him. If you don't see it you are just another of these green shaded fools. I decided this needs some more. Do you even have a clue how much talent is on this team right now? Are you even cognizant of the fact that there is no way in the world we should have lost to NE, Oakland and Denver? Did you not see how badly Mangini was out coached in all three of those games? What about the games that were close and should never have been? Mangini plain out sucks.
Hahahahahaha^ Yeah I guess we should fire Mangini we're only in first place.... Doesn't get much worse than that. Maybe we can draft a new coach with our top 5 pick next year.
Mangini looks like he didn't miss many trips to the desert table on Thanksgiving. Did he look a little guant to you on the sidelines on Sunday?
