For all of you that think this loss aint that bad...well it is.

At 8-4 let's assume we go 3-1 the rest of the way (beating Buffalo and Miami). That puts us at 11-5, with a division record of 5-1 and make PO at the 3 seed

Steelers are 9-3 with a much tougher remaining 4 games. They have Dallas, @Balt, @Tenn, Cleveland. Let's say they go 2-2. They end up 11-5 with the 2 seed.

We lose tie-breaker based on conference record as of now cuz we cant catch up; 6-4 vs 8-1.

    It can get worse.

Pats are 7-5 and have 4 easy games left: @Seattle, @Oakland, Arizona, @Buffalo. They could run the table. That puts them at 11-5, w/ a conf record of 7-5, Div record of 4-2 they get wild card and the 6 seed

Indy are 8-4 and have: Cincy, Detroit, @JAX, Tenn. Say they go 3-1 (loss to Tenn), that puts them at 11-5. with a conf record of 9-3 and the 5 seed

Ravens are 8-4 and have: Washington, Pitt, @Dallas, JAX. They go 2-2, end up 10-6 miss PO

And what do you have at the end of all this 3 seed vs 6 seed: NYJ vs PATS.

Not the first round match up I was looking for...

Beat them once, beat them again.

But PIT could lose 3 games or the Jets win out from here... it'll be fun to see what happens.

I think Dallas wins next week.

well maybe its what it needs to be, we did not exactly slay the dragon the last time we played NE so maybe there is a job to be finished. There is no reason we cannot run the table. I do believe Pittsburgh will go 2-2 and also remember that that opens the door for baltimore to perhaps win the division. As crazy at it all seems Pitt still has the possibility of being the 2 or as crazy at it seems being the 6 with an 11-5 record.

we need to let this play out- we all though 4-1 might get us the 2 seed
well guess what until we lose that 2nd game 4-1 still very much exists.

No doubt, anything can happen, but I just can't see Pitt losing to Ravens and Browns, plus one other game...

I don't want to see the Pats either but I certainly wouldn't feel great about seeing the Colts or the Ravens. Its the playoffs...every game is going to be tough.

Coming from 4-12 last year, I'm not going to break the good china over possibly losing out on the 2 seed. JMO.

But look at the bright side, the Jints limped into the PO at 10-6, went 2-2 in the final 4 and won 3 straight PO games on the road...anything is possible.

Not that I'm saying that the #2 seed wouldn't be nice. I think it would be nice, and is still possible. But the last three SB winners have shattered the belief that you need a #1 or #2 seed to win it all.

You cant worry about that now.. Just gotta win your games.

BTW, Colts are a lock for the playoffs and the 5 seed.. there next 2 games they will handle easy, Jax will be somewhat tough and by the time they play the titans week17 they will probable have the 1st seed wrapped up.

i hate to be the 3 or 4 seed team bc anytime the colts, steelers, ravens, or patriots are the 5 or 6 it is dangerous
If we truly are a championship team...we can't be afraid of anyone though...you have to beat the best to be the best...
I don't have many predictions yet, but the colts stomping the broncos in Denver in the 4-5 game is almost too easy to predict

You know what, I'll be happy if we make the playoffs.

I'm not interested in dodging tough opponents in the playoffs, because everyone is tough in the playoffs.

Does it matter who we play? Pitsburg? Tough as sh1t... Pats? Always tough, Titans? They're going to want revenge... The Colts? Ouch...

This comes down to what I was saying last week, when everyone was going all irrational gaga over wanting the #1 seed. I posted that hoping for the #1 seed is and was STUPID. For us to have gotten the #1 seed, besides us probably having to win out (which is already messed up) the Titans would have had to lsoe a couple more -- the logical games being the ones against Steelers and Colts.

What we should want instead is for the Titans to finish 15-1. Because that means they beat both Colts and Steelers. If they do that, then the Colts are 11-5 or worse, and we hopefully beat them out for #2 if we win out. That only gives Steelers 4 losses, and they likely own the tie breaker, but lets' cross our fingers and hope Cowboys beat them next week, giving them another one. Not that hard to imagine. Then we get seeded ahead of them.

The other team to look out for is the Ravens, also with four losses. But what are their next four games? Redskins, Steelers, Cowboys. Kinda hard to see them sweeping that.

The only other two teams that have a shot at #2 are in our division, and still behind us right now.

Reports of the death of the Jets #2 seed hopes are greatly exaggerated.

The key game in all of this, IMO, is the Titans beating the Colts. Unfortunately that does not happen til wk 17 though, and it will be in Indy. Here's to hoping the Titans don't rest their starters if it does come down to that!

If you're saying you can't envision Pittsburgh losing to both Baltimore and Cleveland I would agree because they should easily defeat the Browns.

I think Baltimore is going to pound the Steelers in two weeks. They played them tough in Pittsburgh and I think they'll beat the Steelers in convincing fashion in Maryland on December 14.

    Stupid here reporting for duty.

How the hell is it stupid to root for your team to do the best possible?

If the Steelers had lost to the patsies and the Jets had won we'd be looking at a whole different landscape than we are now. Didn't happen so let us move on.

At this point we are certainly hoping for the Titans to win out. Although I'm not quite sure why we care whether they beat the Colts or not. If we win out we are 12-4 and will win the division. The Colts cannot get the #2 seed if the Titans win their division. I'm not sure how many times this point will need to be hammered home over the next few weeks. I've seen multiple people put forth this weird concept.

The Steelers face Dallas, Baltimore, Tenn, and Cleveland. The game against Baltimore is potentially for all the marbles and will be a hard fought contest. I will not predict a winner in that one as I think either can win. Home against Dallas and at Tenn are not easy games either. I an easily see Pitt losing 2 of these three. That puts them at 11-5 with a 10-2 conference record.

The Ravens, at best, are 11-5 this year. That is with pure purple goggles on in my opinion. I still think 9-7 or 10-6 is much more likely. Lets say 11-5 with wins against the Burgundy & Gold, Steelers and Jacksonville. They would have a 10-2 record in the conference. That is a tough path to the playoffs for the Ravens however.

In other words, the #2 seed rests upon either Ravens & Steelers losses or the Jets winning. The Jets need to win 2 more games than the Steelers and 1 more than the Ravens the rest of the way.

I think it is likely that the Titans/Colts game will be meaningless and the fans will get to watch scrubs for 45 minutes.

It's not who we play that is an issue with dropping to the # 3 seed. It's missing out on the bye week that may hurt. Mangini does a great job with extra time to prepare.

I think the Jets can run the table and end up 12-4. if the Steelers drop a couple, we still get that # 2 seed.
