for those of you who are feeling down after yesterdays game, here some good news for you, we are STILL in 1ST PLACE. and heres the rest of our schedule, sf, buffalo, seattle, and miami, now that makes me feel better. also, even if we had won yesterday, we would still be the #3 seed as of today, but if this loss comes back to bite us for the #2 seed then it will bother me. but folks we still controll our own destiny, lets be honest here, who doesnt think we are gonna win at least 11 games?
Unlike some others, my goal is not to simply make the playoffs and make an early exit. I want to reach the Superbowl and see what happens there. This game makes me feel like that just isn't a reality.
We might still be the #3 if we won but have you bothered to look at Pittsburgh's schedule? We also would have had a two game lead in the division with 4 to play. As it stands now if we don't win the division we will probably be sitting home. We lose all of the tiebreakers as things stand now.
this loss makes you think that the Jets are losing the division? that means they go 2-2 or 1-3 from here on out. thats not going to happen
no thats what everyone wants not just you. you gotta make the playoffs to win the superbowl and right now we are in good position to make that happen. we got beat yesterday it has happened to every team this year. if we get on a roll heading into the playoffs like we did the 5 games prior to yesterday than we have a shot.
like i said, if we lose the #2 seed because of this game, then it will bother me, and i still think were are gonna win our div. dont get me wrong, that loss yesterday SUCKED!
Not yet. It just makes it closer. You can't ever assume NE won't win out and after yesterday I'm not sure we will at all.
Yes, we did. They lost to Oakland by 3 tds last week. The fact they lead the pathetic AFC west means nothing. Notice something there, we can't beat anybody in the AFC west and that whole division sucks. Nice Mangini......
losing to the raiders doesn't automatically make a team awful. we lost to the raiders and went on a pretty good run after that. neither the jets or the broncos should have lost to the raiders, but shit happens. the broncos have been up and down all season. against the raiders they were down, against us they were up. they played better than the jets did yesterday there is nothing more to it than that. the jets are still a good team and so are the broncos.
West Coast? Is anyone else concerned we have lost on both trips to the west coast to inferior teams . ( Oakland & San Diego). Granted we caught SD early in the year and at a bad time. The San Fran and Seattle games look very scary to me. Alot in the media about the West Coast teams coming east and losing , but doesn't it maybe work both ways. Just another thought from a paranoid Jets fan I hope.
the one thing about the west coast teams is that if you take out the running game, they can't move the ball through the air. Those are the teams the Jets destroy.
I said it before the TEN game... If we beat TEN, then I could see a letdown against DEN. We lose 1 on the west coast (we clearly have problems going west) and BUF or MIA win a revenge game. Obviously I'd love for them to win out, but that's going to be tough going back and forth across the country. I see realistically, 10-6...with a decent shot at 11-5.
Denver has a bottom five defense. They suck at stopping the run, stopping the pass and stopping the other team from scoring. They are the worst in the league with takeaways. They are below average in sacks. Denver is a one dimensional passing team. Stop the pass and you stop Denver. That is not a good playoff team. Unfortunately our inability to stop the pass makes us a questionable playoff team as well.
If the Jets go 3-1 and lose to the fish, they may well be sitting on their couches watching the playoffs.
I would just like to point out for those of you going nuts right now, does anyone realize that last year the Giants finished with a record of 10-6. Does anyone remember what happened last year? Just saying 8-4 is not that bad considering a 10-6 team won the superbowl last year.
Too early to tell -- lets assume the jets split and go 10-6 -- to not make playoffs that would have to include a MIA loss -- and MIAMI would have to go 3-1. Lets assume Pats go 4-0 and are 11-5. So Pats are champs. For jets to make playoffs: Jets would beat Miami head to head. (Miami plays Buff) -- so thats why its too early to tell BUT... even so.... That would put Jets against Raven and Colts. Ravens have Wash, Pit, Dal and Jax. Are Ravens beating Pit and Dal? I assume that Colts will get to 11 -- they have Cin, Det, Jax, Ten. Jets would be wild card -- last seed -- playing at Pats or Broncos.
Also considering its tied for third best record in the conference. A win yesterday -- more or less would have sealed divison.
I think everyone knew the Jets would trip up at some point down the stretch. Denver is a good team when Cutler doesn't turn the ball over. The Jets coming off of two emotional road victories just weren't up for this game. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win out or 3-1 at worst. I see this loss as the humbling kick in the ass we needed. Hopefully we start dialing up some more blitzes that actually bring pressure to help out the secondary and we all know the O will bounce back with the usual 7 min scoring drives. Coming into this game we were second in the league in scoring that's not by accident. It is not time to panic
