It's pretty obvious that he has devolved in terms of his physical attributes and we can speculate as to why but there is no reason to believe he can turn it around. He may become a decent ST player and a 3rd string LB. A team needs these too. Else, he could very well hit the waiver wire next Summer.
I've been defending him up to this point but after seeing that pursuit of Cutler last night I don't know how much longer I can continue to defend him. The best I can say is hopefully he learns some stuff this season and seriously gets his act together in the upcoming offseason. I too think it is too early to label him a bust, but my expectations are being lowered considerably.

Do U realize how badly this team needs a pass rusher that came come off the edge ala John Abraham? VG was supposed to be that player & he has totally failed to live up to his billing. Do you realize you are advocating that the 6th overall player in the draft should ride the pines instead of contributing to the team. You certainly do realize that if he was a 6th round draft pick instead of 6th overall pick in the draft he would already be history & we would not even be mentioning his name.
not sure we can question power or now what we see, I have seen him move lineman bull rush, the play against cutler- I hope upon hope its a guy who still is just thinking about everything and not reacting- his 40 time says that must be what it is? Even if he does not get to cutler he has to come with a full head of steam and knock the shit out of him, if he even makes him not set his feet that ball is a pick 6 know one between who would have jumped a weak thrown ball and endzone.

No, that's not what it means at all genius. They've given up 8 sacks in 12 games (with Cutler being sacked seven of the eight). Read that again, EIGHT. That's not even one sack per game. Tennessee is tied with them for the league lead in least sacks allowed.

I'm telling you at some point between the end of his workouts and this season Gholston stopped lifting and started eating cheeseburgers. They are gonna have to get him in the gym lifting again and watching game film like a maniac.
I would actually say that you have a point. I, for one, am done cutting this guy slack. His rookie year has been abyssmal. When you think that we got Fergusen in the 5th round and what he became vs. where we drafted VG and thus far, he has put up a zero; we have clearly been duped again. I hope he does better next year - he has to or it will probably be his last year as a Jet.
