Jets are tied to contracts with both Ellis and Coleman, so they are not going to draft a DE early. Even a RT, they are not going to draft one early, they will draft one with raw talent in later portion of the draft and try to groom him.

I see the Jets drafting a CB or a WR.

Who gives a crap if the Jets have two defensive ends signed? Ellis is getting older by the minute, and Coleman is a rotational player.

Depth on the defensive line will be very important. Brining in a guy like Tyson Jackson out of LSU would be a very smart pick.

Coleman plays almost every down. How is he a rotational player? You can find a 3-4 DE to groom in 3rd or 4th round. A CB, S, or WR is probably more of a dire need right now.

But nonetheless, right now you just have to draft the best player available, no matter what the position, well other than OLB's.

Coleman plays almost every down because we don't have another player on the roster that can play his position effectively. The lack of depth on our defensive line is scary.

Sure you can find player to groom in the 3rd or 4th round, but we may end up with the next Anthony Schegel. I'd rather take a guy like Terrence Cody or Tyson Jackson late in the first round. They're worth it.

DEs aren't like QBs. You don't hand them a playbook and have them watch for a season. Sure, J-Tuck has become a great pass rusher after sitting behind Osi and Strahan for a season or two - but his success has come from great coaching and great mentors in those two players ahead of him.

WR? Coles and Cotchery are fine as the starters. We can sign a couple FAs and draft a few late round guys to maybe fill the revolving door that is our 3rd receiver spot.

CB is a need, but I see us bringing in a cheap FA to fill that nickel role if Law retires again. Give Lowery a chance. He's a rookie...making rookie mistakes. The growing pains should be gone in 2009.

S is a need, but Elam has stepped up in the past couple weeks. Barrett is also half-way decent as a safety fill-in. They lack great coverage skills, so bringing in a great coverage safety would make our defense very, very good.

If you really want to draft BPA, it shouldn't matter which position it is - we'll most likely make the playoffs, so we'll have a late first rounder - if a great guard is available, we take him. If a guy like Everette Brown, who by the way is an OLB, is there, we pull the damn trigger. BPA - BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE (in a position that doesn't have a definite starter)

(By the way, I think we should take at least 4 3-4 defensive players in the upcoming draft: ILBs, DEs, NT, OLBs...depth matters)

I wish we would have drafted McKelvin last year instead of Gholston

I wish we would've drafted Ray Lewis, Haloti Ngata, Shawn Merriman, Ed Reed, Justin Tuck, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Ndamdi Asomougha, and Brian Urlacher to go along with Darrelle Revis and Kerry Rhodes...

    Shit happens.

The biggest need is CLEARLY Quarterback...lets be honest, if we win it all this year or even if we GET to the Super Bowl, Favre is done. I propose four options, in order of Preference:
    1. Sign Matt Cassel
    2. Draft McCoy w/ our second round pick (assuming he comes out, there is now talk of him leaving UT) And let him sit for a year behind Kellen Clemens or Brett Ratliff)
    3. Try and develop Clemens or Ratliff (Preferably Ratliff)
    4. Sign another 'old guy' like Kurt Warner, who is a FA this year

    1. Matt Cassel might be franchised - so we'd have to give up a first rounder for the one year wonder. I think if that kid goes anywhere else, he'll struggle.

    2. If Colt McCoy comes out early, he'll be a first rounder based on his athletcism alone. I don't like him as a pro-passer, but someone will take a flyer on him.

    3. Clemens is already "developed"...he just didn't pan out, mainly because he was thrown into an uncontrollable fire last season. Ratliff hasn't done anything yet, but I hope comes out of no where and is the starter of the future.

    4. It would be incredibly stupid for Arizona to let Warner go. He's clearly a better option than Leinart...even in his old age. Vets like Jeff Garcia and Donovan McNabb could be available. Whoever wants McNabb will have to give up at least a 3rd rounder.

Quarterback is a huge need, but it's hard to find a guy in the draft that can come in and win right away. I want to see this team continue to bring in depth at 3-4 front seven positions through the drafts. It will be interesting to see if we bring in any big name FAs like Karlos Dansby, TJ Houshmanzadeh, Bart Scott, Channing Crowder, Brian Dawkins, and Mike Brown.

not good.one of our first 3 picks has got to be an offensive lineman.it has been 3 years since we spent a high pick on the o-line.it is imperative that a blue chipper be in the fold every 3 years to guard against age and injury...if you disagree see the jaguars....no o-lineman drafted in the last 5 years

    1. ILB and safety
    2. Another playmaker

I feel like inside linebacker is something that can be addressed more easily through free agency rather than the draft; a veteran that knows the system is more likely to come in and make an impact right away. Karlos Dansby and Channing Crowder are two guys that are definitely gonna get looks by the Jets.

A playmaker has to get drafted by us. We have two guys that look like playmakers now in Washington and Keller, but we need someone who is on the field at all times. Washington needs to split carries to be effective and Keller needs to rotate until his blocking gets better. I am thinking wide receiver...

Not saying we will head after him, but to Franchise Cassel is goign to cost the pats around 14 mill I read. Thats a hell of a lot of ching for a back up QB.

I'm a big Hawkeye fan and having seen Greene play this whole year, we need to draft him. He'd be perfect with Leon since Jones is getting up there in years. Next year, we'd have probably the 2nd best RB system in the NFL with Jones, Leon, and Greene.

He's a bruiser, no doubt about it.

I'd draft Greene in a heartbeat........it's almost certain he will declare since he's already 23 years old and I've heard his familly is in finanical distress. Greene will run you're ass over, he's a tough SOB. BTW, Greene was named the Big Ten's Offensive player of the year.....not too bad.
