http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...ok_to_repeat_same_path_as_1998_te.html?page=1 On Sunday, THE Jets face former NT Dewayne Robertson, who has started 10 of 11 games for the Broncos. After acquiring Kris Jenkins from the Panthers, the Jets traded Robertson for a conditional 2009 draft pick, but that selection will turn out to be a big zero. For the Jets to receive the minimum compensation, a fifth-rounder, Robertson must participate in at least 65% of the Broncos' defensive plays - and there's virtually no chance of that happening. The former first-round pick, whose trade value was diminished by a chronic knee condition, has 26 tackles (13th on the team), with a half-sack..
I didn't realize he was having such a bad season in Denver. I guess the excuse that he was simply in the wrong defense was bullshit.
Wait just because he sucks doesn't mean he hasn't been on the field, right? He's started 10 of 11 games, his % has to be up there.
They are not playing him. That way they owe nothing. He has no chance at all of even plaing the minimum number of downs for us to get a 5th round pick.
It doesn't mean he sucks. DRob isn't that bad. Did anyone really think denver would play him 65% of the snaps this season? Also denver rotates too many lineman in and out for him to get 65%. This trade was to dump that monstrous salary. I dont think the front office expected anything greater than a 5th. Next season he will exceed 65% since they got him for free.
My impression from Broncos fan site was, Dslob was one of their few bright spot on defense. Now let me laugh. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And this was the guy who was our NT in front of Vilma who MANY blamed for being a poor LB and making tackles 5 yards down field. Its a no wonder Vilma was a NT and LB...........hmy:
I feel sorry for any pro athlete who gets drafted too high. You could be a saint in real life and the fans will still hate you.
I'd give the article a little more credence if it stated the %age of plays he has played so far and the %age going forward he'd need to play to reach 65%.
Should say robertson's gonna look like a turd going against our powerfull O Line but He has owned Faneca a couple times in the past...
With the help of Mangini, which he doesn't have any more now, if I might add. I've gotta confess that, whenever I saw him get pancaked by the opposing OL last year, I would crack an uncontrollable laughter... Hoping to see just that this weekend.
We could've released him and gotten the same or better. The only thing that was pointed out was that this way we controlled which team signed him to a new deal. If we had released him, any team could have signed him to a new deal.
