Here are the remaining schedules for all the teams I consider threats to make it to the playoffs in the AFC. Tennessee (10-1): @Detroit Cleveland @Houston Pittsburgh @Indianapolis Pittsburgh (8-3): @New England Dalls @Baltimore @Tennessee Cleveland NY Jets (8-3): Denver @San Francisco Buffalo @Seattle Miami Indianapolis (7-4): @Cleveland Cincinnati Detroit @Jacksonville Tennessee Baltimore (7-4): @Cincinnati Washington Pittsburgh @Dallas Jacksonville New England (7-4): Pittsburgh @Seattle @Oakland Arizona @Buffalo Miami (6-5): @St. Louis @Buffalo San Francisco @Kansas City @NY Jets Buffalo (6-5): San Francisco Miami @NY Jets @Denver New England Denver (6-5): @NY Jets Kansas City @Carolina Buffalo @San Diego San Diego (4-7): Atlanta Oakland @Kansas City @Tampa Bay Denver The Steelers and Ravens have the toughest remaining schedules and the Colts have a very easy schedule (they could easily win out). There is only one thing the Jets can do right now, WIN, WIN, WIN!!
The thing that stands out to me about every team I listed here is this. You could pretty much see every team winning each remaining team on there schedule. We know that won't happen but each time is good enough to win each remaining game they play. All I'm trying to point out with this is that we really have no clue how these last 5 weeks are gonna play out. All we can do is win our games and worry about the rest when the dust settles.
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/standings/playoffrace/seeds I feel bad for you if you did all that work manually when this link has everything perfectly set up already.
Oh, yeah... -_-;; Top 7 teams have earned 7 wins already... there is no way KC can take any one of them over.
It could cost us the devision title? What, you think we got an automatic pass over NE because we beat them once?
So we have to keep winning, we have a one game lead. They aren't going away and they don't play any real challenging games after Pittsburgh. We can hope the Bills play them tough in Buffalo, that's about it. Arizona isn't going to come east and win, Seattle and Oakland? Not holding my breath.
I know teams have gotten in with 9-7 records before; I can't think of many that made it on an 8-8 record; I don't think anybody has ever been in the playoffs with a 7-9 record. I think we would have been 8-8 and would have made the playoffs if it weren't for the Lions game and the halfback option 1997.
No, we finished 9-7 after losing that game. Had we won we'd have made it at 10-6--a year after being 1-15.
I look at that list and see 2 teams missing the playoffs at 11-5 while the winner of the AFC West gets in at 8-8. In other words, if we don't win out we're going to need help.
