You must be a new Jets fan. Favre is on a new team after spending more than one and half decade with the Packers. Its like learning a new language for him, starting with the cuss words. Seems to me he is pretty fluent at it. Not MVP of the season for the Jets? Why not? I know TJ has been awesome along with Jenkins. Jenkins doesn't have to learn the defense as much. TJ is in his second yr as a Jet and has taken a bunch of goal line carries. They have done a damn good job, no doubt. Favre has done a lot for this team. His arm strength is helping the running game to some extent. Every great QB has had a great OL. Thats no excuse for not considering him an MVP. He has made plays that most wont and he is just getting into the rythm with WRs, building a great chemistry, especially with Keller. He still has 5 games to go and if we go undefeated, while Favre throws another 12 or so TDs, his MVP talks are going to be huge. Turning a 4-12 team in to a 13-3 is some accomplishment worth being rewarded with. I would love an icing on the cake too with the SB. Infact, I'll just take the Icing...Don't care who takes the cake.
We did have the K for the 1st TD so we didn't score 20 w/o him and let's be honest our 2nd TD was pure luck. Their QB w/ half the talent led them back and got them into contention w/under a minute left. How exactly did he choke? That revis INT bwas an amazing play. If OUR O could have put together just a couple opf 1st downs Miami doesn't even have a shot. We were up 20-7 in the 4th and Chad w/ no WRs brought them back. Check out our offensive possessions after we got the 20-7 lead: New York Jets at 14:09 up 20-7 1-10-NYJ 14 (14:09) 20-T.Jones up the middle to NYJ 14 for no gain (70-K.Langford). 2-10-NYJ 14 (13:28) PENALTY on NYJ-66-A.Faneca, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at NYJ 14 - No Play. 2-15-NYJ 9 (13:06) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass short left to 29-L.Washington to NYJ 22 for 13 yards (97-P.Merling, 32-J.Allen). 3-2-NYJ 22 (12:32) 4-B.Favre pass short right to 20-T.Jones pushed ob at NYJ 18 for -4 yards (53-R.Torbor). 4-6-NYJ 18 (12:21) 7-B.Graham punts 44 yards to MIA 38, Center-85-J.Dearth. 19-T.Ginn to MIA 42 for 4 yards (15-W.Wright). New York Jets at 09:03 Up 20-7 1-10-NYJ 2 (9:03) PENALTY on NYJ-74-N.Mangold, False Start, 1 yard, enforced at NYJ 2 - No Play. 1-11-NYJ 1 (9:03) 20-T.Jones left guard to NYJ 4 for 3 yards (51-A.Ayodele). 2-8-NYJ 4 (8:26) 4-B.Favre pass short right to 88-B.Franks to NYJ 9 for 5 yards (98-M.Roth). 3-3-NYJ 9 (7:41) (Shotgun) 29-L.Washington left tackle to NYJ 8 for -1 yards (97-P.Merling). 4-4-NYJ 8 (6:58) 7-B.Graham punts 45 yards to MIA 47, Center-85-J.Dearth, out of bounds. New York Jets at 03:27 Up 20-14 5-D.Carpenter kicks 62 yards from MIA 30 to NYJ 8. 29-L.Washington to NYJ 18 for 10 yards (32-J.Allen). 1-10-NYJ 18 (3:21) 20-T.Jones up the middle to NYJ 22 for 4 yards (52-C.Crowder). 2-6-NYJ 22 (2:35) 20-T.Jones up the middle to NYJ 26 for 4 yards (37-Y.Bell). Two-Minute Warning 3-2-NYJ 26 (2:00) PENALTY on NYJ-67-D.Woody, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at NYJ 26 - No Play. 3-7-NYJ 21 (2:00) 20-T.Jones right tackle to NYJ 24 for 3 yards (70-K.Langford). 4-4-NYJ 24 (1:53) 7-B.Graham punts 51 yards to MIA 25, Center-85-J.Dearth. 19-T.Ginn to MIA 34 for 9 yards (31-A.Carroll). PENALTY on NYJ-15-W.Wright, Player Out of Bounds on Punt, 5 yards, enforced at MIA 34. All we needed was 1 1st down on that final drive, maybe 2 more in the last 3 possessions but we couldn't do anything. I think favre has been more important than that the last 3-4 weeks but unless you say Favre is the greatest ever and is solely responsible for our record you will be attacked by all the favre fans that have invaded our board. These are fans that swiched teams overnight but they will tell us how big of Jet fans we are. Justignore them and move along is the best advice I can give(although I can't, it's fun watching them get their Brett favre underoos in a bunch if you say anything realistic about Favre).:rofl: You aren't serious, are you? But you guys don't have one for Brett,do you? jenkins transformed this defense, we haven't stopped the run in years. We've had plenty of good offenses and our O was transformed by the OFFENSIVE LINE not the QB but I wouldn't expect you guys to know that since you don't have any clue what the jets have been through over the years and that's what makes it hysterical is that you guys change teams one day and act like you are a)bigger jet fans than fans following this team for generations and b)think you know more about the Jets b/c of your weird obsession w/ Favre.
Half the talent? They have a good D a good O and a great running attack. They are loaded with high draft choices. Chad threw two balls in a row with time and downs directly into defensive hands, one was dropped one wasn't. That's a choke by a veteran QB. Looks like a lot of penalties and runs and screens to the backs that went nowhere. The OC was trying to establish something and failed. Favre is clearly not the greatest ever but he is one of the great all time NFL QB's, a first ballot HOF candidate and he is one of the top 5 in the NFL this year and he has been outright stellar in our key games where we took outright control over our division and the teams destiny. Where that leads who knows but the guy has been as good as anyone could have expected and has significantly increased this teams ability to compete at the highest level in the NFL.
Good D? They looked good Sunday. He has a good running attack. Who are the WRs he has to throw to? Ginn? Camarillo? Come on. Stuckey would be starting for them, Brad Smith would be starting for them, Wallace Wright might even start for them. Of course it was the OC's fault b/c as we know if we succeed it's b/c of Brett and if not it's someone else's fault. No question he's an all-time great and he is rapidly rising the last 3-4 weeks BUT he wasn't good until 3-4 weeks ago. We didn't have 4 wins b/c of him, we actually would have had more w/o him and Chad being here BUT we probably don't win the last 3 w/o him. NOW he has become a reason we are winning, earlier in the year he was holding us back. Part of that was to be expected b/c of the time he came to us but it cracks me up when people tell us how well he played early in the year when clearly he did not.
Amen. Like I posted earlier, I don't think Favre is even close to earning MVP at this point, but on the other had he has clearly been an overall net positive for this team. Not absolutely perfect, but name me one QB this year (or any year, except maybe Brady last year) who is. This is the kind of opinion I respect. The only thing I would quibble with, ironically, is saying his top 5 in NFL this year. I think he is definitely top 5 in NFL *right now*, but if you look at the year overall, he is not quite there yet, because of early adjustment struggles. But as I've been saying all along, that was to be expected, and I'm not going to dwell on it.
I guess I had to do this since I am not the only person out of millions and millions of football fans with this view anymore.
