Move aside New England fans, there is a new team in the AFC East, and it's the Jets.

With all the parody we have endured this year with the loss of Tom Brady, the overahieving Dolphins, and an underachieving Cowboys, this has proven to be a staple in what the NFL has claimed for years: There are no definates in the NFL. Anyone can win this game.

With the Patriots no longer being the "team to beat", other teams in the AFC have had surprising turn-arounds this season. From the Pennington led Dolphins-to the Jet-Favre led Jets, the AFC East has risen to the tops in strength in the NFL, with no teams having a losing record. Before the first snap was taken, no one in the NFL could have predicted the standings that we see heading into week 13.

The Jets convincing win over the Titans this Sunday has put an exclamation point onto what the Jets hoped to accomplish this offseason, spending over 140 milion in free agents, and acquiring one of the most prolific passers in NFL history. An aging, interception-prone Farve has proven to be better suited for the Jets than the consistant, short-passing Pennington. Both sides seem to have come out on top in this deal.

Having signed just a couple of weeks before the season started, Favre was forced to "start over". He had to learn how to speak again...speak Jets offense. With quarterback being one of the most demanding position in all of sports, Favre has shown that it wasn't just his physical ability that has made him a champion, it is also his mental toughness. With the Jets using a "vanilla" offense early in the season while Brett learned this new language, the Jets lost to opponents most thought they would beat. Was it poor play calling on a first and goal? Was it not stopping a fake punt against Oakland? Or could it be that the team needed time to teach Favre how to lead the Green and White down the field, with a variety of plays and recievers.

The Jets have a lot of weapons, and an excellent running game, which has allowed Favre to be the Favre of old. It appears that Man-Genius has put the leashes on Favre, restricting his down field bombs and "toss-ups"-and implimenting a straight shooting to the open guy philosophy.

According to Albert Haynesworth and Keith Bulluck, the Titans, not the Jets, are still the standard in the conference. "I'm not going to sit here and keep complimenting them at all," Bulluck said after repeatedly crediting the Jets for being the better team Sunday. "Defensively we didn't answer the bell and that's it. Not to discredit them (but) I don't think that team is better than us. They were today, definitely by far. They put a lot of points up and held us to very few. They are definitely one of the top teams in the AFC."

Defensively you didn't answer the Jets. So what did your offense do? The Jets defense made Collins look like a rookie in his first year, and the Titans recievers seem to take a page out of McDropsies playbook, dropping several catchable passes in the first half.

According to Haynesworth, the Jets aren't the top dog in the AFC yet. But this football fan sees the dominant team being the Jets, and they proved this on Sunday.

Is Favre finally comfortable with the offense? I think so. We have to give credit to Mangini and his staff for bringing the Jets this far.

Watch out Patriots and Steelers there is a new Big Dog in the AFC, and it's the New York Jets.

Who wrote that article? Do they have a spell check or an editor? I usually don't care, but how the fuck does someone get paid to publish such an atrocity to the common word processor?
