great play calling today on offense. I have been one of Schotty's biggest naysayers, but he proved me wrong today. Discuss.
Raiders game woke them all up. Favre is comfortable in the offense, OL knows everything they need to know and are concrete. Everything has clicked the way the CS thought it would. This needs to continue,.... no rest for the talented Jets.
Actually I think it does. It was a new offense for everybody so it took a little time to see what worked and what didnt. He showed that he learned from his mistakes and knows how to make adjustments. good job schotty
90% of us on this board doubted schotty, including myself, but I had to realize that it takes time for teams to click. Our O is a completely different offense from last year and the year before and they had to adjust to the plays and such. We will lose 2 more games this year and go 11-5 winning the division. Don't be surprised if Buffalo and a team under 500 beats us b4 the season ends, but it's better to get some losses out then go in with a big winning streak.
Schotty lovers, have you noticed how with each week there is less of that BS formation shifting and more Football 101? I bet its cuz each week BF has to sit down with Schott and explain that the fancy stuff is a waste of time and he needs to stick to what works.
many of those games, even the wins, had some pretty questionable playcalls. if everything were as simple as just separating win and losses then there would be nothing to discuss or argue about.
I'd love to chalk this up to learning and only being a 2nd year OC, but who he has running the plays is also huge. Not just Brett, but the OL and RBs. WRs and TEs too. Its coming together collectively. But he has kept things simple, and simple is working. He's starting to get it. What happened in the past doesn't matter in the NFL. Its what's going on right now. I learned in grade school sports that you don't get points in you next game for what you did in your last 5. That was always rule #1. Thats why my teams lost once a season, we focused on the now.. same in the NFL.
As awful as I thought the play calling was early in the season, yesterday was a creative, well called game! :jets:
anyone notice at 27-13, 3 minutes left, the 4th and 4? GREAT call going for it on that. end the game right there instead of missing a possible fg attempt or a blocked kick to create a possible turnaround...the jets coaching up until the raiders loss would have kicked it there..but great call going for it and drawing the pass interference which won us the game!
I am not sorry for pointing out some badly called games this year. But I am glad he's calling good ones now.
I was skeptical earlier in the year after a couple games which left me scratching my head over the play calling. But he Shotty has been spot on the last 4 or 5 games , almost flawless.
I started a thread yesterday giving credit to Schotty for his game plan. It was a brilliant game plan that effectively neutralized and wore down the Titans biggest strength on defense while attacking there weakness. Great job Schotty. He seems to have hit his groove. I hope I was completely wrong about him.
I think he is listening more to Favre than the other way around and that is why the offense is starting to click now.
Playing this way at the end of a season surely does forgive the breaking in period that was the begning of the year. We are clicking at the time of year when it matters most.
I think Favre getting more comfortable in the offense is at least as important for our recent success. But Schotty did call a very good game yesterday. I also think he is incorporating some plays from the Packers (which Farve obviously will do well with). Overall I'm just happy to see our offense clicking so well here in the late season. We're hitting our stride as the playoffs approach.
