I think that we will be doubling Scaife with Revis on Gage, personally. Have Elam over the top of Scaife with a linebacker underneath, and Scaife will get banged up really quickly. Revis can shut down Gage, and there should be no argument about that. Have the DEs pinching down a bit since our OLBs can contain the outside run well, and you've got yourself a defensive gameplan.
I doubt we would be hearing much about Gage if it wasn't for last weeks game. Take that game out of his stats and he has 17 receptions for 229 yds and 2 tds on the year. I know he missed a few games but I still think he is getting way too much praise.
haha, right on. I just get really pissed at carelessness and superficiality. I'm big on being thorough and methodical, in anything really, but especially when analyzing a game like football.
I would also assume Scaife draws double coverages. For the record, only Dwayne Bowe, Larry Fitzgerald, and Javon Walker (horrible game all around) have had double digit fantasy games against us from #1 WRs. Walker had his best game of the season. The other two were fairly average. FWIW, Gage is #24 on CBS' WR rankings for the week. I don't really understand putting Gage in a Start 'Em list unless you're simply looking at overall defense. Matthew Berry put Brandon Jones on his Love list, which is a more informed estimate.
^ the one thing i'll give Lowery is that he does attack the ball when in the receivers hands, or near them. He has a lot of good breakups as well as forced fumbles... with time it'll come together and he'll be a playmaker.
I really like Gage, but Revis should be able to shut him down. Tennessee's TE's are more of a concern of mine in this game.
ya good point, gage is 6'4''... if we can get some pressure we can get some turnovers... who ever wins turnovers will win the game (no surprise there)
Just reading ESPN.com's "Called Out!", regarding this week's fantasy matchups. Berry explains his low rankings for a couple of #1 WRs. When asked which cornerbacks scare the crap out of him in one-on-one matchups, he answered: Nnamdi, Darrelle Revis, both Steelers. Huge respect from the guy who gets paid solely to watch individual matchups. About 1/4 down the page: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?page=ranksreactweek12
Honestly, I see fantasy football guys (mainly on ESPN) usually praising our defense. Our pass defense has been pretty bad this year, but a lot of guys love Revis, and I've seen #1 receivers be under sit 'em in places like that. Same with runningbacks. CBSSports had Chris Johnson as the number one sit 'em.
I prefer this plan, put 3 guys on scaife, one corner, and one LB with a safety over top, Revis on Gage, Rhodes on Johnson, and leave Mccareins uncovered on the other side of the field. That way Collins has to throw to Mccareins, and im willing to be that we win 3 out of every 5 passes thrown his way, when we leave him uncovered.... and well if we cover him, it will probably be 9 out of every ten....
We shouldn't put anyone on McCareins, because then Collins will throw his way everytime, yet it'd never work....
