I still think one should be taken because after Gholston, there is no one. I do like Murrell, but he won't see playing time. Maybe a late round guy?

Even though I was a big proponent of Gholston, even I'm a little disappointed this lessens the likelihood that we draft one of the high end pass rushers in this draft.

I think Hardy's too low. Theres no one in this draft thats a better, and more projectable pass rusher than Hardy. He's got the size, speed, and innate ability to be a force in this league.

Selvie's a little overrated in the sense that he isn't as NFL ready as the other guys. But even then, I don't feel right saying it because he's got great instincts. I do think he's a nice long term investment.

Brown is a player. The most FSU I put on, the more I like this guy. He's a very similar player to Selvie, but I think he's more loose as an athlete, he's stronger now, he's just as fast and quick, and I always get the impression from this guy that he's a student of the game. He's ranked right where he should be.

Orakpo is a beast and a half. He, Hardy, and Brown have the potential to be elite prospects.

I like Jerry Hughes, but not as much as Clint Sintim. Sintim is underrated as hell right now. School pedigree means alot to me, and Virginia under Groh has produced some good, intelligent, high character, high motor trench talent. I actually prefer both inside in a 3-4, but thats partially because I think 3-4 LBers should all have similar skills and basically be interchangable. Half the fun in a 3-4 is really playing with the versatility of the linebackers.

Michael Johnson is not a 3-4 OLB.

well first of all I want to establish that Todd McShay is an idiot, sorry those who love him

having said that...this list tells me why he is an idiot

Brown sounds exactly like the the gholston scouting report-he has the body and most of his sacks have been in the past few games

I would also put Selvie and Orapko higher especially considering that Orapko has probably earned top 5 pick with his production this year

    this list is crap...

none of these guys fit the 3-4 OLB(in the top5)

Browne is not a perfect fit for the 3-4 as soon as they weigh him his stock will fall... his height is decent

Orakpo is not an answer in the 3/4

there are some in the special mentions I would think about.

The only way Brown and Gholston are similar is that they are both highly accomplished, highly physically gifted pass rushers at a big name program.

    Completely different athletes/body types otherwise.

Aren't you that little kid that hates Jets' football?

Orapko won't go in the top 5...maybe even the top 15. He should go around 20-32.

I'm with Dware on this one. E-Brown is nothing like Gholston. They're two different styles of pass rushers.

    Todd McShay > Mel Kiper

Orakpo is starting to get overrated. I do think he's a bottom half of the first round guy, but I worry about the injuries and the hype.

Basically, he's the guy everyone thinks Gholston is/was, but with an injury history.

Not that I don't think he can be a sick player, but theres alot of parallels with the Gholston myths. Workout warrior...disappears at times...alot of his attention came from him dominating Oklahoma...not really a starter until his junior year where he didn't perform as well as Gholston did...now that I think about it I feel a bit more confident about Gholston.

I like Eric Norwood more than Jerry Hughes.

Norwood reminds me of Antwan Barnes...and Barnes is going to be a nasty player for the Ravens in the future.

I doubt he comes out this year though. Long term, I can see a guy like Norwood playing DE, OLB, and/or ILB and being an excellent leader in the huddle.

This is the kind of guy the Jets should look at.

Eric Norwood might leave early because of poor program potential (Spurrier's offense is awful and it's looking like it will never take off) - I think he'll go pro unless he thinks South Carolina has a legitimate shot at winning the SEC...so if Tebow comes back, Norwood probably won't be a Gamecock in 2009.

He's a special player on defense...always around the ball and he makes big time plays ALL the time. He can play EVERY linebacker spot in the 3-4 and have success at it.

yeah I think someone who may be over looked a bit as a pass rusher is Tyson Jackson, I know he is more known as a "balanced" defensive end but I mean Shaun Ellis has proven how effective a defensive end can be in a 3-4 where the sacks tend to come from the LB so Jackson could be very good in the right system

This is a pass rushers' thread -- if you want to talk about GT prospects though, Johnson just had a pick 6 against Miami.

He's a hell of an athlete, but he fits best into the 4-3.
