From ESPN SportsNation Poll: Are the Jets a legitimate Super Bowl Contender? Guess what the results are! Yes: 34% No: 66% And all the states except Alaska has more no votes than yes votes. And Alaska is even a tie at that. Here's some bulletin board material for Mangini!
How is that not reasonable? Let us beat the Titans and then we may deserve the respect to get more YES votes in this poll.
when was this poll created, btw? the only time i would've considered us "legitimate" contenders was after the patriots game
Why would we be anything else but a under dog. Thats what we've been since day 1 (Except when we won it in 69)
The Giants would have had the same thing said about them. Thats why the games are played. If reporters and fans were always right they'd probably actually be considered smart...amirite follks?!?!?
exactly. nobody believed the giants were actually winning the super bowl until the game actually ended. lets make it two underrated ny teams in a row im actually starting to believe this year could be special.
Fuck Alaska. What have they done of significance lately besides produce a pretty hot MILF ploy a VP candidate?
yeh lets be the underdog it's fine - and it is fair enough really...I think we need to do a bit more to show ourself as a contender. First things first lets try and win enough games to make the playoffs, hopefully as a division winner!
Keep in mind this too; there is a strong anti-NY bias in sports. It's one of the worst kept secrets in athletics, IMO. I think this plays a part in it too. I blame the Yankees run of dominance for planting the seeds of resentment for NY sports teams in general. The Jets have just played 3 complete games in a row. It looks like all the pieces are coming together. Next up is Tennesse, if they can play complete against this very talented team then they will start getting national recognition and respect. But as a few other posters have said, after the Giants' run last year, why would you want to?
