Sometimes I go a bit bonkers while watching the Jets.

And wow, watching this 2nd half debacle...I've never criticized a coaching staff more in my life. Watching Sutton and Mangini essentially play a prevent defense from the last possession of the 1st half and on...was unacceptable and borderline mentally retarded.

But, none of that matters now. Brett Favre makes this a new team. The new talent we acquired this offseason makes this a new team. Not even Mangini can stop us now.

The old Jets lose this game. We all know that. And c'mon. We were ALL thinking it. When Cassel hit Gaffney for a TD to close the 1st half. Same ol Jets. When Cotch fumbled. Same ol Jets. When our defense made Cassel look like Joe fucking Montana. Same ol Jets.

But, it wasn't the same ol Jets. This was the new Jets. And they won. And that's all any reasonable Jets fan can ask for.

Brett Favre this and Brett Favre that...

This is a job done by everyone. Top to bottom

I'll keep saying it 'til the whole world believes it, but this isn't the same old Jets.

Oh...and this coaching staff will never get credit until they win it all. Could be this year...they're a little conservative for my taste but that goes away with confidence and chemistry.

I'm tired of people bashing the Defensive play calling, especially the Prevent. I'm going to make two key points here. The first being that if we hadn't played the Prevent, then Kerry Rhodes wouldn't have been in position to recover the fumble.

Secondly, what would you like our CS to do; put newly acquired Ty Law who's been sitting home for 11 months, 1 on 1 with Wes Welker or Randy Moss? Seriously....

We played it how we were suppose to play it, and that's why we came away with the win. Maybe you guys forget that of the last 6 we decided not to play Prevent defense and look where that got us. Prevent is the most basic form of Pass Defense, it's a bend; not break strategy. It's what this team needs, considering its talent at secondary. So ease up and enjoy one of the biggest Franchise wins in recent history, partly due to the Prevent Defense!

What you need to realize is that a REAL coaching staff would blow the Patriots away at home because it's that easy. We had them at 24-6 at one point. It coulda/shoulda/woulda been 28-6...but either way we were on pace to score at least 48 points and give up only 12...and look where we ended up. Only a 3 point win.

    Only a 3 point win.

It's a good strategy. Once you've got a nice lead. Play bend not break Defense. Sure, they're going to get yards. Let them get the yards, but it still puts us in position to make plays on the ball. There were plenty of times we should have came away with a pick due in part to the Prevent. Let's face it. We've got 1 man holding down our secondary. We need a simple defense, that allows us to make plays.

So you automatically double the halftime score and assume that is how the game should end?

We do have to work on the Prevent D. We have faced numerous teams who came at us with 5 wides, empty backfields, and strictly shotgun to play it better than we showed tonight.

This was BB's strategy to get back in the game and it worked. Too bad Lowery could'nt hold onto the pick thrown to his shoulderpad. We would not be discussing it right now.

Uh yea. If you can dominate one half, you can dominate the other. The Jets didn't do that, and thats a fault of the coaching staffs.

I agree with the theory of the OP but to nitpick your post just a little, we were not in a prevent D since the end of the 1st half. We were in the prevent D the final drive which we should have been in and 99% of all NFL HCs would have been in the same situation.

NE does as good of a job picking up blitzers as I have ever seen.

No we were really in the prevent D the entire 2nd half. We didn't send more than 4 guys at all. That's a prevent defense.

Bottom line: Jets are 7-and-3. You can knock Mangini and Favre all you want, but they are winning.

to change the culture of this organization starts with us.

We must all act like winners, and it will translate into a better team.

We run on way too many 1st downs. Mix it up a little. Last year in OT Green Bay vs. Broncos, first play in OT it was a play action 80 yard bomb to Jennings. That's the kinda shit I wanna see.
