    FEELY, NUGENT WAIT FOR WORD

FOXBOROUGH - Eric Mangini yesterday said he plans on bringing Jay Feely and Mike NugentMike Nugent to New England and he'll make a decision today on who'll kick tonight against the Patriots.

It would be hard to fathom Mangini going to Nugent, who's been out since injuring his right thigh in the season opener, over Feely, who's coming off his best game as a Jet.

You would figure Mangini would go with the hot leg. As of yesterday, though, neither kicker knew what was on Mangini's mind.

"I'm not worried about it and I'm not even thinking about it, because it's out of my control," Feely said. "I definitely want to play - not only because I'm having fun and am coming off a good game and feel like I'm kicking well, but because this is such a big game for this team.

"Those are the kinds of games you look forward to playing."

Feely was good on all four of his FG attempts last Sunday against the Rams and his KOs were strong. One of his FGs was a 55-yarder at the end of the half.

"It definitely was one of my best games kicking off, kicking some field goals and I made a couple tackles," he said. "I love to make some tackles. That's when I feel like a football player."

Mangini yesterday called Ty Law "spry" in his first practice in about a year.

"He got a decent amount of reps," Mangini said. "He didn't seem to be too winded."

Several Patriots have taken notice on how much better the JetsNew York Jets are since Week 2.

"Yeah, they are real explosive," Pats DT Ty Warren said. "I think all the new guys - with the turnover this past offseason - they look real comfortable and look like they have a real niche with what the concept is over there and what they are trying to do."

Can't change with the short work week, hopefully Feely won't screw up...

Feely- at this point the momentum is in his favor. Nugent is supposedly healthy now, but Feely hasn't been too shabby on kickoffs and appears to be a lock on anything beyond 45 yards.

"If it aint broke don't fix it."

Plus, I've never liked Nugent- waste of a 2nd round pick...

Kentucky, I watched Nugent in camp and his KO's went deep or out of the end zone everytime, but when it translates to the games he can't even reach the endone, I don't get it...:jets:

for kickers, its all about their mental stability and Feely has that right now. Last week he did an awesome job. I can't remember when Nugent kicked that well in a game.

Yeah but that game had no pressure on it. You know if that 55 yarder meant something he wouldnt have made it. That being said, I would still put Feely in as hes broken in and as at least been hitting the FG's. Nug hasnt played in so long this would be the wrong game for him to come back in.

Feely. Just the fact that nuge is healthy and he isnt starting means we need a new kicker next year. Nuge is a big disappointment

he made a kick that long to send the raiders game to overtime. that was some pressure. plus he was kicking for his job last week. even though we didn't need him to make the kicks you dont think he was aware that nugent was close to being ready? i think knowing if he kicked poorly that he would probably lose his job added some pressure to the game for him.

Mangini brought both Feely and Nugent, and will make a gametime decision on who will play?

    Smells like smokescreen.

I’m Mandoofis didn’t give Feely the nod already he’s a bigger moron than I give him credit for. You don’t screw with an athlete’s psyche in any sport by appearing weary of them after a career performance.

It plants the “Damn – WTF do I have to do to be ‘good enough’” seed.
