Number three is really not that important. In my mind they need to avoid out-coaching themselves. The only other point missing is to limit give-aways.
I keep telling you that this game is not going to even make you nervous once it starts. Save that for next week when it might be needed although I'm not even sure of that.
It might not be harder, but at this point in the season their defense looks much more refined than it did in week 2. As for that week two game, 19/98 looks good enough on paper, but if you take away two runs of 16 and 17 yards by Washington and Thomas that turns into a much more mediocre 17/65. If the Jets were actually able to run the ball effectively during that game they would have scored more than 10 points and gained more than 256 total yards.
exactly.so use leon more in the first 3 quarters than when their tired of chasing him around for 45 mins go heavier on thomas jones.they won't have the legs to tackle him that late in the game.on d law should be up on welker hitting him off the line like he used to with marvin harrison.than bring rhodes up in the box on his side to protect against the screen.
We'll see. Cassell beat the Jets in his FIRST NFL start and at the Meadowlands. I'm hopeful about Thursday but the Jets need to set the tone early or they're likely to come out on the short end again.
I disagree. We ran it pretty well against the Pats last time around and, if anything, I think we can run it even more effectively this time around. (we ran it for 98 yards last time at around 5 yards per carry - and don't forget, we abandoned the running game in that game when we fell behind 16-3) I happen to think that establishing the run in this game will be huge because, the way we are playing right now, the most likely way for us to lose this game would probably involve Favre throwing a few bad interceptions. If we can pound them early and keep them off balance, I think we will be in great shape to make big plays in the passing game throughout the 4th quarter (without the game changing interceptions from number four). Normally I would totally agree with you because the Patriots usually do a great job at shutting down the other team's running game, however, this year they aren't quite as good at it as they have been in the past and I have great confidence in our ability to run the football with authority (And again, I don't want Favre throwing it 38 times in Foxboro, I want him throwing down the field off play-action and spreading the field and throwing short out of the 3,4, and 5 wide receiver sets)
He only played the London game as their old punter was cut and the new one didn't have a valid passport. Aussies don't need a passport for the UK.
-Blitz Revis and Rhodes. Those usually end up well for us... -Throw the kitchen sink at em from the first play of the game. -Run to the outside more often -Throw to Keller, Baker -For every two Jones rush attempts, 1 Washington rush attempt
The only reason we lost the first time was because of coaching. All we have to do is continue to coach the way we have in our wins and that will take care of everything. I truly believe we have the better team and if we play like we have since the Buffalo game we'll beat the Patriots convincingly. Go Jets!!!!!! With a win this week I also believe there will be an upset when we play the Titans the following week.
They killed us on field position. That game is the reason Graham is no longer a Jet. We haven't had any conversations about the new punter since he's arrived which is a good thing. I have no idea what to think of this game, but I cannot wait to watch it. A win would be great, but if we go over there and dominate them it will be a great day to be a Jets fan. <insert fight song here>
Is Hodges any better? We haven't seen him punt much the last two weeks. If we can make sure we never see the punter, we will all be amiling come late Thursday night. Run the ball against these guys. No Thomas. SLower LB's. The Giants did a good job against them last season. After we run, this will set up the play action to whomever the hot reciever is. Football 101. Hear that Shottenheimer?
The Jets have punted five times in the last three games combined. We'd have had no problem with Graham if he'd been covered for at that rate while he was on the team. Not to say Hodges hasn't been decent because he has but he hasn't been asked to do much.
I rewatched the Week 2 Game... - The Pats dominated the Kicking game - Pinned the Jets back every drive while the Pats started in Jets territory 5 times - Jets had 6 penalties Pats had 1 (another was late in the game) - One penalty was a ridiculous phantom call on Cotchery which pinned the Jets back and led to Favre's INT - That PI call really turned this game - Lamont Jordan, Adalius Thomas and Faulk sealed this game for the Pats.... With Jordan and Thomas now out - DO NOT LET FAULK BEAT YOU - SHADOW THIS GUY AND DARE CASSEL TO THROW!!!!!! You re-watch that 1st half and you see the Jets beating up on the Pats - Hitting Cassel and moving the ball - MISTAKES set them back and kept them off the scoreboard but, Mano-y-Mano the Jets can manhandel this team, even moreso without Adalius Thomas...
Oh.. And while people cried about the Jets trying to run at the goal line... The Jets SHOULD have scored a TD and the OL SHOULD have helped punch that in... I said at the time that I was fine with those calls - This was a team that spent the offseason (pre-Favre) trying to build a Defense and Smash mouth running game... Favre or not, that's what the base of this team should be. I said at the time WATCH, as the Jets ralley around that Failure and use it later in the season - I bet all week this OL has been thinking of that series - I bet they want to run this week and are fired up beyong belief!!!! RUN RUN RUN.. DOMINATE THIS TEAM!!!!!!
Pressure Cassel. He has already taken 29 sacks, 2nd in the NFL. The Jets defense is best at sacking the opposing QB in the NFL. It's a no brainer. Either Cassel hold the ball too long or the Pats OL just totally sucks (in which case their running game is also shut down). Either way it only makes sense to go after him.
I cried about the Jets not attacking the opposition's weaknesses, and going after their strengths. It's why we lost to the Pats the first time and why we almost lost to the Chiefs. I wasn't fine with Thomas Jones up the middle to the same gap 3 times in a row and I won't be this week. We have to call a smarter game and take what we can. That's how the Patriots always beat us. They take what we give them and capitalize on it. They don't play into our strengths. Fuck those assholes, they have a weaker secondary than we do, and their pass rush is also weaker without A. Thomas. Intermediate passing game to set up the run, run to the outside to open it up over the top. I want a boot on Belichick's throat. Smuggest bastard alive.
OMG another Champ and this one is a Fin's fan. Hey Champ (the real one) go tell that guy where to get off. And yes, scary as it may seem the Fins last Super Bowl win was in January of 1974,
