This upcoming thursday nite game vs Pats' isn't a must win for the Jets'. It would be nice, but again...it's not a must-win for the Jets'. SO lets not overreact win or lose. I actually felt that winning up in Buffalo was more important for the Jes'. It is actually more important for the Pats' psyches to win. You may ask how or why ? The Jets are a younger, hungrier team thats just learning how to win & there talent..."young & old"... is blossoming right before our eyes. If the Jets' lose, they will just get hungrier & play even harder, but the Pats ...will be the same ole Pats...minus Brady. The Pats' are corncerned with maintaining there dominance over the Jets' & can feel the Jets' breathing down there necks & every game & win is more important for them, whereas the Jets' have re-adjusted there sites from the regular season to the post-season. This is now there primary focus & they are now building toward the post-season. The way the Jets' are playing.....there a lock {barring injuries} to make the playoffs. Personally...I feel that beating the Titans is more important for the Jets' than the Pats game. The Jets' have to beat the Pats just 1 time this season....& thats if they meet in the play-offs. So, don't get me wrong.....I would love to see the Jets' win up in Foxboro on thursday nite, but win or lose; the Jets will learn from this experience & the truer rewards will be reaped...later in the season. The Jets' will be able to define & refine there team strengths & weakness's after going up against Pats....So really its not a life/death thing, but just a measure of there teams progress. FACTS: 1- Jets' have one of top 5 Offenses in AFC... 2= Jets have a top 10 Defense in the AFC... 3- Jets have a top 5 Special teams in AFC... 4- Nobody wants to face the Jets....
it would make winning the division impossible? i dont think so. obviously this is a big game and should be a win for the jets. i think its a must win simply because the jets should be able to handle the pats. the jets have everyone healthy and the pats are about as beat up as you can be. a loss would kill all the positive momentum the team has built the last two weeks.
This really is a sane post from a poster generally known for senseless posts. I am impressed. Yes a lot of your points are based purely on the thought the Jets are going to be so pumped up and full of confidence if they lose thursday that they win the superbowl, which any Jets fan can deal with. But really if we win on thursday Hell yeah baby! we'd be 7-3 for the first time in forever, and people would be scared to death of us, and I think Tennesee would be quaking in it's boots coming in at 10-0, as the team that could end their run. and if we lose, big deal 6-4, not done, and will be in heated contention with the Colts for a wildcard spot. Get in to the postseason first. then talk about the Superbowl
you couldn't be more wrong...this is definitly a must win game...to have sole possesion of first by beating the pats in their own house means more than your giving it credit for...it would shed the defeatist attitude of the jets...it would solidify the jets as the team to beat in the afc east...it would give this team utter confidence heading into tennessee...how you could say this isn't a must win is aggravating actually.. this is the game when the jets find out who they are....in fact this game not only is important for this year but its important for the years ahead...
screw that the jets havent had success against the patsies in quite some time. that hump needs to be gotten over before the jets can challenge for the division. i do not trust the rest of the nfl to help get us back the 2 games we will be behind if we lose this game. this win needs to happen, this team needs to make new strides toward becoming a playoff contender. this is one of those roadblocks that must be gotten through.
For clarity...Ur more known "in my household"...for senselessness...lol. Now moving on...Thoughts not based on Jets' being pumped up or pumped down. Jets' have a very strong offense with Favre at the helm there learning how to move the ball consistently & put up points. Jets can be a very hard tem to stop. Actually, only Bretts INT's or Shottys silly playcalling styme the Jets' offense. Jets' are rock'n dude & the defense is playing better.
Your giving our lackluster offense more credit then it deserves and our Defense less then it does. The Defense has been the key to our season. Its among the league leaders in rushing yards allowed, Scaks, Picks, and forced fumbles. The Offense has been very hit or miss with a bundles of turnovers in its own right. If not for letting up passing yards, most in the short routes, we would be much closer to the top of the heap total yardage wise. There is a reason our two highest scoring games were the two our Defense created the most turnovers. This is a big game for us. We need ot come out and put the pats away for many reasons. First off, we need ot beat a good team. The Pats give us the chances to make that statement. Second, our only divisional loss is to the pats, we need ot beat them for that purpose big time. Third, I hate the pats and thier fans that troll around here.
Not that I'm trying to jinx it or anything...but I think we win. All you're saying is that this is just another game. We want to win it, we're going to try our ass off to win it, but if we don't they haven't cut our head off either. I can agree with that. I also think we'll just win. I'll say something like 28-17.
It's time to take control of this division. How will we win if the playoffs if we can't beat a brady-less pats team, not even once? Jets are hot right now, they will go up to foxboro and dominate. If the jets win the next 2 (which is VERY possible), I seriously think they will finish 13-3. They can beat the pats, then get 10 days to play a titans team that they match up very well against, despite the 9-0 record.
I will say this...this game is not a must win...BUT, if we want to be Super Bowl contenders, we have to win one of the next two. At 6-5, we're just another team. At 7-4 or, hopefully, 8-3, we're a team to beat.
What a load of shit. Who are you Dr. Phil or something? You honestly believe the Pats' are sitting around and talking about there feelings about this game? The Pats' focus is to win the game. The Jets focus is to win this game. No one is sitting around discussing how there fucking inner psyche will be affected by the result. Once this game is over everyone will be focusing on there next opponent (Titans', Dolphins'), not the result of this game. Holy shit, go pick up the newest issue of Teen Magazine and let us know how it is. FACTS: 1- I love Lamp. 2= Dorthy Mantooth is a saint. c- Nobody makes me bleed my own blood. 4) The Rams' are who we thought they w'ere.
This is as much of a "must-win" as all the "must-win" games we've already played so far (some of which we've lost, and some won)
If we lose this game its not like the season is over; with a loss we could still easily make the playoffs. Therefore it is not a must win, but it still is an important game because it will show us how good we actually are and if we'll likely be a wildcard team or a division champion.
Any game against the Patriots is a big game in recent memory. It is a chess match with their coach. If we beat them, and go up 1 game on them, it is a huge lift for the Jets. The momentum, and noteriety of a big win should carry into the next game against the Titans. Listen folks, the Patroits are ripe for the picking. Their strengths should play well into our strengths. They want to run the ball and play ball control. This has been the case since Brady got hurt. We are becoming a badass run defense. Score 1 for the Jets. Let the guy with many names try to run against Kris Jenkins. I like us here. They like to short pass. We have a good press corner in Revis. Our pass rush is improved since the last meeting. The play calling is much better as well in disguising the blitzes. Hopefully we confuse Cassel a bit. Their weakness on defense is their linebackers. Without Thomas, they are old and slow. Smart, yes, but speed kills. The O-line for the Jets has been playing well. If they can spring T. Jones to the second level, their LB's could be exploited. Screens might work well on Thursday as well. This is about the division. WE also cannot afford to have 2 losses to the PATS. I like our chances and am more confident than I was going into the first matchup.
U make some good points here...about sole possession of 1st & beating the division team {Pats} that beat u earlier this season. Good to return the favor. But again.....season could be won this thursday....but not lost this thursday....unless a major injury happens.
