    thursday night at 11:00pm.........

of course some may argue it shifted when brady got his knee crunched by the chiefs but we have had to endure the jets and a couple of pathetic early losses to feel comfortable about this.....

no question folks a win at NE shifts the AFC east gods in our favor and makes us the team to beat - at least for the division title.

what does a loss do....well it brings us back to the pack and would make it real tough for even a WC spot considering the log jam that will gather around 6-4 and 5-5. it also would bring out the doubters and keep the buffalo win very suspect. it also gets the darksiders out again after a 2 week hiatus.

that being said i think the jets have a shot....a good shot...at continuing the ride that started in buffalo.

a split for the next 2 games is fine and gives us a 7-4 look which will likely translate into 11-5 and a possible 2nd seed in the AFC.

now that would be something folks - even for this darksider - who after the charger disgrace was settling in for a 6-10 campaign.

    enjoy

Well Jil, could either of us have predicted we'd be having this conversation 9 games into the season?? :)

Yeah, without a doubt, thursday's game will be the telling moment in this franchise's new story. We have a shot, but you'd better believe Belichek knows this isn't the same Jets team he beat earlier this year. We'd better realize Cassel is alot more comfortable in the NE offense as well so, statment game? Absolutely!

This game, and how they play win or lose, will make me believe in the New NYJ's or the SOJ's. Lets hope the best Jets team shows up thursday nite..

That is correct. It is clear to see how important Brady is to the Pats. However, they have still managed six wins including one against us. If there is a true shift in the balance of power, that will be determined on Thursday Night. I think we are a better team then the team that played the Pats at the beginning of the season. So we will see. At the end of the day, I am just going to sit back and enjoy the rollercoaster ride this season has been.

The balance shifted when Brady went down, although I do think a Jet win on Thursday would give us the favorite's shot at the division title trailed narrowly by the Dolphins at that point. I'll predict that if the Jets win on Thursday night that the week 17 tilt between the Jets and Fins will be for the whole enchilada.

Yes but if we go 0-3 vs NE, TN & Den our season again is unsuccessful so lets hope that Man & co have come of age & can begin to beat over 500 teams

With 3-4 of the Jets' wins coming against the NFC, 10-6 might not be good enough for the playoffs. They need to keep winning.

It's really going to come down to Thursday. If the Jets can throw the 800 pound gorilla off of their back it's going to be hard to beat them down the stretch. If on the other hand we walk out of Gillette with another loss against those guys you can basically pretty easily walk us out to a 3-3 finish from there and 9-7.

Yea...a bad loss Thursday would be disastrous. So would Godzilla attacking, but I think both are unlikely.

Seriously, we lose Thursday and there goes most of that momentum we've had going.

And I don't even want to think about what Mangini and this team get called by their own fans if they dare to lose. Pussies...fakes...frauds...bitches...I don't want to lose just for the sake of having to read this board and others for the 10 days after.

Then they'd have to go into Tenn. with most of their momentum killed...I guess that'd be yet another one of those statement games...we haven't had enough of those this year.

If they play their hardest and lose then i'll not call them one bad name. The loss has to be reminiscent of the Colts-Jets game in 06 where the played their asses off but lost by 3 pts. That was a good loss, if there is such a thing.

But I really don't think they are going to lose.

i do think that if they win thursday, and then have 10 days to prepare or an undefeated team, they will be the upset. 10 days to stop that run and play a non-turnover game is enough. I truly think a Titans loss can happen... or maybe it can happen if they do lose on thursday. But i've never been more convinced that they'll win against the Pats like I am right now.

Denver at home i'm not worried about.. that defense is god awful and Jones should run all over them.. its limiting Cutler, which our pass rush can do.

Revis can handle Marshall, but Royal is going to be a pain in the ass for Lowery or anyone else, Royal is just that good of a rookie.

The statement will be shutting down their offense.

Tennessee should be the true test. We already know we can stop the run...if we stop C.Johnson and the pig...that will be a testament to how efficient our Run D really is.

The oline will have their hands full with Haynesworth and that 4 man pass rush....this is where the Woody and Faneca's signings hopefully pay off.

not to mention Tennessee's interception happy secondary... it'll be a low scoring game, but if they can't run they won't be able to pass either. Chicago doesn't have a shut down corner, and if Grossman doesn't fuck up on 4th down, they might have tied that game and maybe won it.

Tennessee will be a hard game, but 10 days to prepare could really be the deciding factor.

yeah...we should be well prepared for that tilt. If Jones keeps running well, and Favre limits the turnovers...i think we'll give them a run for their money. :)

The reason why Tennessee's secondary is so lethal..is because of their front 4....their d-line is stellar....and they're continuing to do well without Vandenbosch too. You stop the front 4, and that should take away the prowess from their secondary.

The Pats are still the better all around team. It's a game we can definitely win but they are still a more disciplined team that rarely beats themselves. They have done a great job creating a simple offense for Cassell to run. Their three defensive lineman make running the ball between the tackles so difficult.

For the Jets to win this game they need to:

    a) Not turn the ball over.

    b) Win or draw on the field possession battle (Ben Graham killed us)

    c) Stop the Pats running game and force Cassel into 3rd and longs.

    d) Get the ball to Keller between the numbers and Leon in the flats. If Thomas is really done for the year that kills their pass rush and puts more pressure on Mayo, Guyton and Vrabel. Let's spread those guys out and make them cover Leon and Keller.

You can't give the Pats anything easy since they don't make mistakes. But Cassell is still a game manager and if a team actually gets up two scores on him then they probably can't come back.

    you may be spot on.....

this game may very well be won 7-10 yards behing the line of scrimmage.

i am sure the pats are thinking the same with welker and faulk

I'll be happy to see us crush the Pats if it happens on Thursday night, but in reality we aren't beating a Brady led Pats team so it is what it is. Plus, it sounds like they will be without Adalius Thomas as well. Still a legitimate team for us to beat though in the end.
