Can anyone recall a more "complete" half of football?

The AZ game certainly stands out- but this game, especially the first half, had it all:

    1) Poised QB.
    2) Excellent running game
    3) OL opened holes and gave Favre some decent time to make plays
    4) Nice catches in the receiving game and bringing Keller's skillset front and center.
    5) DL clogging the middle lanes, no running game to speak of there
    6) Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers
    7) Feely with his "helluva" kick (we should only let him kick from 50 or beyond if we want to ensure that he nails it. If he's kicking from the 25, ask the refs to move him back to the 50).
    8) LB's making plays when needed, Bowens' gameplay not a glaring issue.

Granted, this was the Rams, but it was nice to see everyone on both sides of the ball get in on the action and contribute in some way.

Also, can we please, please end the Eric Smith experiment at safety. I think that at the very least, Elam has shown to be a playmaker in certain respects and I don't really see a dropoff in talent from one to the other.

Did Hodges even punt in the first half?

We only punted once - the first drive of the second half. There is no way Elam should be replaced when Smith is healthy.

It was one of the most impressive displays I've ever seen. Sheer dominance of one team over another in all regards. They should have just called the game at half-time.

I watched the game last night after the kids went to bed. My wife's remark was of course, "It's 40 points at the half, isn't this a little boring being it's so lopsided?"
My response, "Not if you're a Jets fan." It's nice to be on something other than the receiving end for once.

I don't believe I have ever seen the Jets play such a complete game before, let alone a half.

You got that right. Total domination. The entire team was clicking. There wasn't one area that was lacking. Completely balanced.

Hey Koz, as far as your wife's comment, yeah, I agree. It's not so much the runnup in score that holds my attention, it's just watching the Jets dominate.

Bring on the Patriots. This is going to be a really exciting game, especially without Adalius Thomas.

im glad they learned from the arizona game. the defense came out and stayed strong throughout the second half. no cheap tds because they decided to sit back and let them move the ball down the field. i was shocked that the rams didnt put up at least 14 points in the second half. that was one of the more impressive things to me. this time instead of backing off they kept the pressure on.

if we play at 75% of the level we played at yesterday for the rest of the season, we would finish 12-4 and be contenders for the AFC title

They had a first half like this early in 1993 on a Sunday night at home vs the Pats. Parcells had just taken over New England's mess and Bledsoe was a rookie in his third game, we had Boomer, Lott and a bunch of veterans brought in, kind of like this year. I don't remember the score at the half but it was about as complete as this one, nothing bad you could even point at. I'm hoping this year ends up better.

The second half of the Monday night Miracle was just as good (really the 4th quarter). Maybe better because of who it was against, the fact it was Monday night and that it sealed the deal.

some of those 86 games were pretty lopsided for the jets during the 10 win streak - especially the seattle game i believe.

a couple in 81-82 were also very impressive with the defense and all

i think parcells 1st game in 97 was pretty convincing against seattle i believe.

EDIT - yes the colts WC game in 02 was a biggie, thank you

bottom line is that most of these dominating games stem from the defense and not the offense.

The playoff game where we beat the colts 41-0. We domoninated both sides of the ball and both halves if my memory serves me correct.

Wasn't the 1997 opener 49-3? Wouldn't that be the biggest margin ever? I must have the score wrong. There was also a 38-0 win over the Colts at Shea in 1982, first game back after the strike. Those Colts were about as bad as these Rams. I was at a 45-3 win over the Oilers in 1988 and 42-3 over the Bills in 1985.
