I have good news for you guys, we allowed Gay marrige some years ago, and till this day, there still were no Pirate Nazis with Laserguns riding on Dinosaurs, who came to destroy our country.
Shhh you wouldn't let the right know what hypocrites they are..... BTW I'm still waiting for that Bible passage that says marriage is between a man and a woman. Honestly I have a few gay friends so I understand the issues they face. The problem is the right will tell you gay is something that is learned sorta like a subject in school while all the gays I know will tell you that your are born gay. Think about it..... you didn't need to learn to be straight did you? We don't punish people that are born with mental deficiencies or missing limbs or with disease so why are gays punished? As for polygamy I know the Mormons practiced it back when they trekked from New York to Missouri to Utah. Why? Because in many cases the husbands would die in the wagon train across the country. Well the community decided that you couldn't leave the woman and her children to fend for themselves so they would marry into another family. I guess you could call it Mormon Socialism, BTW they outlawed this practice some 100 years ago. I can't think off the top of my head any other groups that practiced it..... BTW I want to know when parents were replaced by schools in teaching their children about the birds and the bees. Ultimately it's your responsibility to teach your children what you want them to believe not public school.
"A Farewell To Kings" When they turn the pages of history When these days have passed long ago Will they read of us with sadness For the seeds that we let grow? We turned our gaze From the castles in the distance Eyes cast down On the path of least resistance Cities full of hatred, fear and lies Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise Beating down the multitude and Scoffing at the wise The hypocrites are slandering The sacred Halls of Truth Ancient nobles showering Their bitterness on youth Can't we find the minds that made us strong? Can't we learn to feel what's right And what's wrong? What's wrong? Cities full of hatred, fear and lies Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise Beating down the multitude and Scoffing at the wise Can't we raise our eyes and make a start? Can't we find the minds to lead us Closer to the heart? "Closer To The Heart" And the men who hold high places Must be the ones who start To mould a new reality Closer to the heart The Blacksmith and the Artist Reflect it in their art Forge their creativity Closer to the heart Philosophers and Ploughmen Each must know his part To sow a new mentality Closer to the heart You can be the captain I will draw the chart Sailing into destiny Closer to the heart
"The Blackest Day in American History"? I bet you can't even find America on a map. I swear to god, when you listen to right wing talk radio you must be exposed to colorless and odorless radiation that eats away at your brain cells.
Heh. This is typical post-election wash. After a month or two we'll all get back to a healthier sort of fighting. All this did was cause me to concentrate my battles. Although I preferred a McCain presidency, there was no safe harbor for me on some of his objectionable policies. There was left and then there was FURTHER left. Say this for Republicans - I've NEVER heard one suggest that they would abandon their country if and when the other side were elected. Yet, that's a common enough theme from Democrats. The real dark part about this election cycle is that our national press, whose importance we revered enough to put into out Constitution, has tossed aside any illusions of impartiality. But this isn't new. It's been building. It worked to GWB's benefit once upon a time. But, unless someone in that industry stands up for reform on a fundamental level, we'll never be able to truly trust any news report ever again. We'll have to read six news stories about the same incident and then average out all of the spin to reach a kernel of truth. THAT's the blackest part about this election.
I'm pretty sure that's been typed repeatedly on this here website. Good to see the bitterly contrived republican culture of grievance against the evil media isn't going to die any time soon. How do you manage to remain so steadfast and pure in the face of such unrelenting propaganda? Do you take supplements? Were you innoculated against hookworm as a lad in the heartland?
Well, Miano, your statement is both true and false, and therefore, your point is flawed. You are approaching the biblical texts from a postmodern interpretive hermeneutic, which is not the manner in which the texts were written. An appropriate cultural-historical hermeneutic must be applied. Let me explain. In western thought, religion and society are separate. In semitic (eastern) thought, God is both religion and society. This is the manner in which the biblical texts were written. So no, you won't find a verse to support your argument. That much is true. But the answer is bigger than that: because homosexuality is punishable by death (cf. Leviticus 18:22-24b), in the biblical sense, gay marriage would therefore be unthinkable. So your statement is flawed by the assumption you can simply "cherry-pick" your arguments from the Bible. It doesn't work either way, for believers or non-believers, because such noncontextual arguments are called prooftexting, and prooftexting by itself is an incorrect hermeneutic which does not take cultural-historical ramifications of the texts into account.
A question for the young Democrats. Now that we are in a post racial and post gender America with the election of Obama, how do you feel about affirmative action as a leg up for minorities in both education, business employment and contracts? Now that race and gender are no longer a hinderance to the highest office in the land is it time to put equality back in standards or are you okay being put at a disadvantage in a competitive world with shrinking oppotunity?
Nor should it. Not any time soon. Evil isn't the right word, though. I'm not even sure "biased" is the right word. "Manipulable" might be the best. Again, GWB did it when he was looking for a doorway into Iraq. It swings both ways. Mostly leftward, but both ways.
Something must have been swinging to the right to get you to approve of Sarah Palin as a credible national candidate, that's for sure.
wasn't it just a little bit over a 2yrs now that president bush was on tv offering a "path to citizenship" for the "undocumented residents" (or whatever the current moniker is)? Even maccain was steering that wagon. But now you are concerned that obama will suddenly add 22 million democrats to the voters list! You will feel better in a few days after your blood pressure has receded.
“Blackest” Day in American history? The Boston Massacre The Civil War Assassination of Abraham Lincoln These aren’t considered the “Blackest” day in American history? But the day 63 MILLION people vote in a new President and THAT is the Blackest day in American history? Nice to have you back LTJF. Glad to see things haven’t changed. Nice choice of words btw….
I've never approved of Affirmative Action in the way it's used, and Obama being elected shouldn't change that. However, just because Obama was elected doesn't suddenly mean that no black person would be discriminated against while trying to get a job. Of the votes for McCain, it would be foolish to think there wasn't at least ONE (and obviously more than that) that was a vote against Obama's color. Obama still won because people with that level of ignorance are in the minority. But when it comes to a hiring manager, they don't have to take a vote.
so then I imagine the people will band together and oppose it the same way we did when bush/maccain/kennedy tried it..
