Not sure what your post here was about. I didn't write anything good about Jumbo Elliott's Jets career in this thread. Furthermore, I had Hill and Powell in my top 10. Is this "Misinterpret Cakes' Posts and Give Him a Hard Time Week" and nobody told me?
A player that never got the respect he should have and stands next to Chrebet as one of my all time favorite Jets. Ronald Kyle Clifton Position: LB Height: 6-4 Weight: 236 lbs. Born: August 23, 1962 in Olney, TX College: TCU GP 204 GS 149 Int 12 Sack 5.5 FF 12 FR 15 Tackles 1468 (This is the amount they show, but his tackle stats are higher. This doesn't count assists either.) He was a tackling machine. He was a great defensive captian.
Instead of making a top 10 players list, this should be who would be the starter in each position of the team. Thats how we do it in soccer, as you guys would call it So I vote that we keep the thread going but make it who would be in your starting O, D and ST's. What do you say to that?
I was agreeing w/ you. You mentioned that Jumbo only made on PB and it was w/ the Giants. My point was to only further that both Powell and Hill were superior players.
Actually, not to take anything away from Johnson, but I'd take George Sauer hands down. You don't believe me just watch the Jets only Super Bowl win. To me, Maynard, Toon, and Sauer are the three best receivers in Jets history.
1. Joe Namath- Obviously 2. Curtis Martin- I dont think we realize it now because he is fresh off of retiring but he was that good. 3. Don Maynard- Only other Jets HOF until Curtis goes in. 4. Kevin Mawae- Another guy who deserves more credit then he has been getting. 5. Joe Klecko- Borderline HOF and a great Defensive Lineman 6. Keyshawn Johnson- Say what you want about him but while the man was here he produced on the field. He went over the middle and was a game changer. 7. Winston Hill- Lets give some more O-Lineman their due. 8. Al Toon- Tooooooooooooooooooon. 9. Chad Pennington- Not just underrated but underappreciated as well. Won some playoff games and has been to the playoffs more times then any other Jets QB. 10. Mark Gastineu- The man could get to the QB.
Walker had 74 career touchdowns and a 20YPC average over his career!!!! No one puts up those kind of stats anymore!!!
Vinny had a few good seasons with the Jets, one great one, but he wasn't a Jet long enough. His whole career is impressive, but that goes in the Favre, Ronnie Lott category to me.
The Jets made it to the Game before the SB 3 times including 68. Vinny outright carried the 98 team and probably had the greatest season of any Jets player in the history of the franchise that year.
I agree, Walker and Toon had a much bigger impact in Jets history. Two of my all time favorites by the way.
My List: 1. Namath 2. Maynard 3. Curtis Martin 4. Joe Klecko 5. Wesley Walker 6. Al Toon 7. Freeman McNeil 8. Mark Gastineau 9. Wayne Chrebet 10. Jim Sweeney
