Agreed. Leon is fast becoming my favorite player on the current Jets team. That little addition yesterday was a prime example. I would take Leon over Bush today I am am betting Leon will be ripping past defenders long after Reggie's career is over due to injury.
BTW, just purchased my CP jersey replacement 5 minutes ago. Guess who? Thanks for making the decision for me with that quick thinking yesterday Leon=)
Leon just needs to keep improving his blocking. And I wouldn't just say he can't be an every down back. Guys like Westbrook, Tiki Barber, and Charlie Garner were of similar size when they came in, I believe. Even Warrick Dunn still is a starter, another Florida State guy. I'd love to have him be our platoon back for the next 5 years.
Leon is awesome. Forget about the Reggie Bush comparisons or the argument over whether he should be given a shot at being the number one RB or not, he just has something special that you really can't translate into stats. Every time he's on the field there's a sense that something amazing could happen, and I have NEVER seen him quit on a play. I was really happy to see him given more touches this week but I think that, as someone else has already mentioned in this thread, his ability to turn field position in our favor on such a consistent basis just can't be overstated. There is no way they can let this guy go.
Maybe Jenkins....but Revis over Washington??? No way. Close perhaps, but Washington over Revis right now.
That one had me out of my seat. I don't like that rule, but great players use the rules to their advantage. I love intelligent football players. The fact that he is also an extremely talented and explosive player and a very quick thinker makes his intelligence that much more valuable. What a great draft pick this guy was.
When I saw him field that kickoff, I said "Oh no Leon!", but I couldn't get too pissed because even if it were a mistake he's such a good player you have to live with it. Once I learned he knew the rule and exploited it, that's as impressive as anything else he does. It was either Nance or Simms that said it too, he found another way to make a play. That's 25 yards that don't go on his stat sheet but a huge 25 yards for us at that time.
Washington is, IMO, the most talented playmaker on this team. Every time he touches the ball he's a threat to score. He may be one of the biggest steals the Jets ever got.
I hate to agree with ANY Fish-head, but you could be right. We better go all the way THIS year because the next few can turn out to be lean.
