That is exactly the game I point to to define Brad Smith.

The dude is a gamer. He is willing to put the whole team on his back to make sure they win. Did not have a ton of talent around him at Missouri (a la Jay Cutler).
He has good straight line speed which means he probably won't be much of a deep threat, but he is extremely shifty which means if you get him the ball he can make space for himself to operate.
He has lined up at WR some for Missouri but as far as I know, never as a return man. He probably won't be fielding kicks for us. He could take some snaps in the backfield running the ball but it will most likely be misdirection type plays (direct snap out of the shotgun, reverse, etc.) as opposed to lining up behind the QB and running at the defense.
Probably won't do anything for us at QB but can throw the ball so we now have a legit trick play option where he can throw it off the reverse or screen pass.

He doesn't have the hands now but should pick up the routes quickly due to his high game intelligence stemming from being a seasoned QB. He is a playmaker whos main talent is making people miss and shiftiness.

Nesquik nailed it. Best case scenario he becomes a dominant third WR in the slot. See Randle El, Antwaan circa 2004. Doesn't have as much #1 or #2 WR potential as like a Matt Jones or Drew Bennett, but if we don't push him and let him play to his skill set he can take over for us as the #3 WR and be dynamite on the field ready to explode.

Smith can add some class to that number now.

Couldn't agree more. That damn number is cursed.

Or, just maybe, he can redeem it by doing something productive on the field.

it will feel weird to actually watch someone in 16 move faster than players going into the huddle.

best points, i say give him 3 yrs he could bloom into a #2 if he handles slot spot with ease.

worst case scenario like Rambo and Nesquik said, we have a definite slot threat who will create matchup problems

    Basically,

An excellent athlete with great feet and quickness. If he's well coached he has the quick twitch ability to have a suddenness that would separate him from most "possession receivers." Very dedicated to football and an EXTREMELY high character guy. Great field vision. I think he's going to be more than just a possession receiver, but they have to put in the time with him. He's definitely going to work to make it happen.

He may be sort of a Ismail type, rb-wr tweener. Put him in the back field and get him matched up with a safety.
