Four days is normal rest. Five days is extra rest. You need to put lump those five day starts in with the four day starts in order for your numbers to look pretty, don't you? Cheater. And if it all means "nothing", then there's no reason for you to snarkily say, "Don't they realize he pitches like shit on extra rest?" You really are a miserable fuck, aren't you? Christ almighty.
Just for reference, Gaudin won't be facing the AL East on Sunday. He'll be facing Seattle. It should actually say twice for the number of starts. Don, you should really relax. We're in first-freaking-place for crying out loud. I'm big on Aceves entering the rotation too. When Andy hangs it up, that's Hughes' spot. That still leaves one rotation spot, and I think Aceves can be a great #5 guy.
I knew that and was waiting for somebody to point it out. Hopefully they can schedule him so he never will. I can't stand to see the Yankees lose a single game so I will never relax.
I think 5 days is not so abnormal for a 5th starter, especially early in the year. And you are right, what I should have said was he totally sucked the last time he pitched on extended rest.
While maybe a bit extreme to say he totally sucked, this is a much more reasonable statement. And if you left it at that, I'd have no problem with it. Of course, he was awesome on his previous start with extended rest. You were just looking for an excuse to bitch about the front office or Girardi, though... and given that the Yanks have the best record in baseball, and a sizable lead in the AL East, you've needed to become a little more creative. (e.g. Joba's schedule, Hughes' use, etc.)
Game just started. A.J. Burnett needs to duplicate performance in the Boston game against toronto!!!!
Trust me, I hate when the Yanks lose, but they're in very good shape. Honestly, I expect us to lose more games over the next couple weeks due to too many starters getting rest days than we will due to poor pitching.
I agree, as long as we keep winning, we will always be in the drivers seat for a division title, even HFA.
Joba Chamberlain's next start will be on seven days' rest as the New York Yankees try to limit his work in his first full season in the rotation. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4394224 Dandy...we'll see what it means this time. I would prefer if they just used him on notmal rest and then just shut him down completely when he reaches his inning limit. I can't help but think this is screwing with him more then using him too much.
So you'd rather lose him for the playoffs than just give him an extra day in between starts? No offense, but that's crazy with a capital C.
Retarded with a capital R. Stupid with a capital S. Why pitch him at all if we arent going to use one of our best pitchers at all in the playoffs?
What is the playoffs and how do they plan that? Is it 19 games, is it 11 games? How many are each series going to last? Is he the number 3 or the number 4? How many inning will he have left then? He has never pitched more than 100. They are already talking 160 which is way too much of an increase based on these so called new age rules. Can't wait to see how they handle this.
6 hits and 7 walks in 5 innings is hard to describe any other way. He totally lucked out that he only gave up 4 ERs.
Like every pitcher, he isn't going to go 7 IP 1 ER every time. We need him down the stretch and they are planning it the right way. I'm more concerned about #5 spot in the rotation.
So, now they have Gaudin pitching relief and starting Sunday? I guess they can't have much left in the BP that they want to use. What if they need him for 3 or 4?
