It's got everything to do with geography, at least for me.
Geography is the same reason I don't like the New York Giants and the Jets hardly ever play them.
I loved being out in California last month. The Yankees were out of sight and out of mind. All I had to put up with was one minute worth of highlights on SportsCenter. I didn't have to see any stories or pictures of the Yankees in the San Diego and Los Angeles newspapers. It was great.

And I know tons of Yankees fans who truly hate the Mets, so I don't know where you're coming from with that comment.

  2. Do you know any Yankee fans that OBSESS w/ hating the Mets?

No, but conversely, I don't know Mets fans who obsess with hating the Yankees. Obsess is a strong word.

  6. Yes I hate the Mets...but rarely do I ever even acknowledge them. And the entire reason I hate them is b/c I live w/ a Met fan, and get sick of the constant jealousy displayed.

There were a shitload at Shea last night, who after the game were chanting "1986" like idiots.

I get what you mean, but for me the whole Yankees/Mets fans tormenting each other just makes these games so much more awesome.

As long as people don't take it too personally, it's all in good fun.

  9. No it's not even a big deal. Admitedly baseball is nothing more than a pass time till football season for me. My allegiance lies w/ the Yanks, and at times I can be die hard...but it's not that huge of a deal for me.

Rarely do I engage in the usual Yanks- Mets disputes. I just find the casual Met fans contradiction in terms of the way they attack yank fans, and defends themselves, confusing.

Either way, here's to an exciting series for both sides.

It doesn't bother me at all that Mets fans watch the Yankees as closely as they do their own team. I often catch myself rooting against the Red Sox almost as much as I root for the Yanks.

It does amuse me that they deny it though.
