Ok im trying decide weather to buy an Xbox 360 or PS3. I hear good and bad things about each console. I havent played for quite sometime now and im trying to find something to do during my downtime. So i need a little help on choosing which console i should buy. Also i have a few questions.

1- Is it true that the xbox has problems with over heating?

2- I hear ps is no longer making the 40gb and now only will sell the 80gb is this true ? i dont wanna spend money now buying a 40gb for $400 when the 80gb is going sell for $499.

3- And finally which console should i get i noticed that xbox has 3 different ones to choose from while PS 3 has 2 different ones.

Xbox sucks. Get a PS3. You get a bluray and a system that doesnt overheat continuously.

I have both systems. Bought the 360 right when it came out because I always preferred XBox to Playstation and it has better games. It's never overheated and I've never gotten the infamous red flashing button but it does make a lot of noise.

I recently bought the PS3 solely for the Blu Ray player (it's only $20 more than the cheapest standalone Blu Ray player). It's a good system and has free on-line network. But it doesn't have all the good games that XBox has.

That being said, if I could do it over again, I'd just get a PS3. No need for more gigs - 40 is plenty.

I have both as well I only use the ps3 for movies the Xbox has by and afar more games it seems to me. The only games I'd prob buy for the ps3 are any rpg that tickle my fancy.

You can't play Metal Gear Solid 4 on the 40gb version though... I imagine there will be future games released that will only be playable on the 80gb version as well.

You can play MGS4 on the 40GB, you just can't play PS2 games on it. They removed backwards-compatibility on the 40GB model. The only other issue with MGS4 is it installs 5GB of data on your hard drive, and performs another installation before each level, so if you don't have enough space you'll have to make room.

Are you absolutely positive about that? I went to a number of GameStops and they all told me that MGS4 only works on the 80GB version. After reading what you said I'm trying to back up my source online but I can't find anything. Do you have a source that backs your info up?

WOW! Thats has to be a few dumbass gamestop employees. Yes MGS4 will work on a 40 gig PS3. Ive never heard such a rumor. Because it doesnt exist. They were just trying to get you to pay more......... i guess.

They make another bundle where the PS3 is gunmetal gray (hot looking) and its 40 gigs and comes with MGS4. That alone proves MGS4 will work with a 40gig PS3.

    Like i care. My PS3 has 160gigs

Is the 160GB model gonna replace the 80GB one?

In my experience, the PS3 is great, however, no one else has them so online play kinda sux, except for CoD4.

You pay extra for HD cables, as it comes with regular RCA cables, but you can get a used HDMI cable at gamestop for 20 bucks.
    Online is free.
The blu-ray player is the best attribute, I think, even with non blu-ray discs, it bumps up regular dvds to 1080 so they appear to be hi-def

I have the 40GB model and it played MGS4 just fine. Those people don't know what they're talking about or they're trying to trick people into buying the more expensive system.

Ok thanks for all the info on both systems BUT tell me about this over heating on the Xbox 360. I was talking to a friend who has both systems he tells me that the PS 3 is the best and also he doesnt know one person who has xbox 360 that the system didnt over heat! Thats my biggest worry. Who wants a system where you have to return it everytime it over heats and wait 6 weeks to get it back. Guys with the Xbox please let me know what the deal is on this. Im gonna buy a system most likely on friday.

I've had my 360 for 8 months, I've had zero issues with overheating/RRoD. I have two roommates with 360's, they've had no issues.

Another question, which package offers backwards compatibility? I went to a GameStop today and they said that the newer 80gb versions aren't backwards compatible... only the older ones are. Is that true? So which fucking ones are backwards compatible?

I don't know a single person with 360 that HAS had issues with overheating or anything else. Keep some space around it for the fans to work and there is no problem.
