Kelly took the Bills, Marino took the Dolphins, Elway took the Broncos and I think Eason lost to the 85 Bears..
I've posted this before, but it's warranted here--For all the love that the QBs of the '83 draft get, only Elway ever won the Super Bowl, and he didn't do it for the Colts who technically drafted him, and he didn't do it until 15 years later.... Will Jets fans be satisfied with a future HOF QB who never gets them a trophy, or will they even be satisfied to wait 15 years for one?
Whatever will be, will be...I think Jet Nation would be thrilled with quality, high level QB play on a consistent basis. Not to mention the occasional Pro Bowl or two. Its been so long since this team was a legitmate SB contender that I don't think its the pain point it used to be. Most fans like me just want us to get back to being good again. Not just mediocre and competitve. If our new FQB does that, I'm good even if we get to the SB and lose, at least we got there in my lifetime.(again) A career path like say, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning.. yanno, Tier One Qb.
Yup. He really can't be compared to the other guys tho. Eventually we picked him up, remember? He wasnt any good really. Fuck me lol
And the fact is Kenny was very good himself, it really pisses me off to keep reading it from Jets fans, Marino this, fuck him, nobody knows how he would have worked out for the Jets anyway.
That's a little upside down. 1. The Dolphins' O-line was maybe the 2nd or 3rd best in the league in the mid-80's. The Jets' was not. 2. The Jets' WRs were, indeed much better than the Marks Brothers, I don't care what anyone says. 3. Marino's quick release and ability to dodge defenders without leaving the pocket would have been even more helpful on the Jets. 4. Kenny's accuracy was as good as Marino's or better--but he was slow about it. He would have looked a lot better behind the Fins' line. 5. Marino would have actually had a running game backing him up with the Jets. We never really got to see that in his Fins career.
Damn straight. The Jets came out of that draft just fine--clearly several teams came out worse. The Colts had to leave town in shame!!!!!!
Eason led the Pats to the SB against the Bears. He took over for an injured Grogan in week 12 and started every game through the SB. Grogan took over late 2nd quarter after Eason had been sacked 4 or 5 times.
Because they didn’t take the guy who passed the eye test, had the physical skills and was a gamer. Passed on him because he a poor statistical year... Sounds familiar....
