Why did they release Ross Martin?

I know it's not a huge deal, but I was really pulling for this kid. I thought he did more than enough to win the job. His only miss that I can recall in the preseason was a 58 yarder that was only marginally wide right.

He's cheaper than Cantazaro, and IMHO has a heck of a lot more upside.

I really thought he was going to make the team..

I really don't understand some of the moves this organization makes....

    Rant over.

Why? Because Bowles is an effing moron. He thinks a mediocre veteran gives him a better chance to win that a more consistent young player. Going with young players makes Bowles' vagina hurt.

Part of me thinks, Bowles is fighting for his job and he simply doesnt trust a kid over a vet

I don't disagree. If that's the case, he should be fired. He really needs to be on the same page as management, which is to say it's a rebuilding year and should be treated as such. It's counter-productive.

Because Cantazaro was better on kickoffs and getting touchbacks....Martin was good in practice from all reports but it seems he doesnt have the better leg.

Whoever gives us best chance to secure #1 pick is fine with me. Catanzaro is awful. So I thank idiot Bowles to pick him for the job.

He's guaranteed to lose us two or three winnable games this year. That's artistic tanking right there. It plays well next preseason when you can say "the Jets were in every game! They lost 7 games by 7 points or less!"

Because Catanzaro is more of a veteran and they trust him more. His first tow years were very good. Last year was an off year, he missed 7 kicks. 3 of 50 or more. Similar to Folk when he got here.

When the games count they trust the veteran. Let's not pretend we're the first team to do this. Plenty of young kickers impress during pre season and then shit the bed early in the regular season.

This is going to sound crazy....

    Wait for it...

This, is my least favorite Jets departure of 2017. And it makes ZERO sense.

Is getting touchbacks more important than being more accurate on FGs and extra points? It will be interesting to see how happy Bowles is with his choice when Catanzaro misses an extra point or FG (or three) and causes the Jets to lose a game or games they should have won.

Imagine it's late in a close game. We send our kicker out there to try a game winning field goal, one we absolutely need him to miss so we get the top pick. Catanzaro's our guy.

We've bitched about a long snapper and a kicker all in one week. Never change TGG.

LOL Now THAT'S a convincing reason why we should stick with Catanzaro!!! (Seriously) He does give us a better chance to wind up with the top pick than Martin does.

That's right. Same reason bowles would not deactivate or bench revis or fitz no matter how bad (and they WERE bad last year). bowles never saw a struggling vet he didn't like. And some people insist he is a good coach for a rebuild? give me a break!

In what way, and in what world is Martin a more consistent young player? If he was so good, he would have been kicking somewhere else already.

  19. Could be a position they target from the cuts.Dare I suggest the return of the Motor city mad man mike nugent..think he's better than Cannizaro

Hey at least we care. You think Patriots fans were debating this stuff prior to Brady? Of course not. They didn't even know they had a team back then.
