I was just looking at CBS Sports Draft Prospect Rankings and 3 of their top 6 prospects and 7 of their top 20 prospects are DTs. I don't remember this many DTs being that highly rated before. None of them are even Srs. Anyone have any idea what may have caused there to be so many top DTs when so many other positions seemingly don't have anyone that highly ranked? 2. Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama, Soph. 3. Ed Oliver, DT, Houston, Jr. 6. Jeffery Simmons, DT., Miss. St., Jr. 14. Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson, Jr. 15. Rashan Gary, DT, Michigan, Jr. 18. Dre'Mont Jones, DT, Ohio St., Jr. 19. Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn, Jr. There are 3 DEs and 2 OLBs in the top 20, but I can understand that as they are edge rushers, but DTs?
I don't know anything much about college football but I've been poking around these draft lists a little bit of late especially since the Jets have a high pick. Is it fair to say this is potentially a fairly weak draft class? Or am I underestimating it? I guess you never know but outside of maybe Bosa I'm not seeing many sure-fire stars with the chances of being all time greats.
Keep in mind that these type of rankings don’t put too much stock in positional value and are just trying to rate how well they think players will transfer to the pro game.
How many of these DT's have actually declared for the draft, or is it just another list from CBS Sport? They seems to be doing a new draft almost daily at the moment.
To be fair, Gary, Williams, and Oliver can all also rush the passer. Gary played on the edge some this year at Michigan.
Well, the Jets do need a true NT. I can't even imagine the rioting that will happen if another 1st round DL is picked, haha.
There's really no top tier blue chipper besides Bosa and possibly Allen. I think the rest are very good players who have some holes. This isn't like last year in terms of offensive talent rated very high.
