Everyone seems really upset about the Jets potentially bringining in Lattimore. Not sure why...He was really good last year and played on a defense that leaves their CBs on an island. QBs only had a 30 rating throwing at Lattimore and given that he's only started one season his upside is huge
He has played only 1 full season in college. Lattimore battled injuries throughout his college career and his hamstrings were so fucked up he had to have surgery. On top of that the glass man injured himself wearing shorts at the combine... Lattimore has a hell of a time staying healthy, this issue will not cease in the pros. He is Dee Milliner 2.0 and would cause me to admit myself into an institution if he is our 1st round pick...
Plus, it's not like there aren't a surplus of CBs in this draft. I would seriously consider ending my 56 year support of this team if they took Lattimore.
Jets can't get burned with an injury plagued CB again in top 10. That would be the most nightmarish pick Jets can make. I am praying to the football gods that he goes top 5.
I don't know if I could stomach watching Tabor chasing after receivers 5 yards behind them on deep balls every Sunday.
This about sums it up. Not to mention we can get a quality corner in this draft into the third and fourth rounds. People tend to forget how important that is when it comes to taking a first round player at a position that you won't find a drop off if you take that position in the 3rd. I'll pass on corners. The whole emphasis on cornerbacks has came and went with the Richard Sherman phenomenon a couple years ago. Edge rusher or playmaking safety > cornerback every damn day of the week. You can hide deficiencies at corner, and teams can easily neutralize a good corner by not throwing at him.
Exactly. I would hate any CB at #6 in any draft unless the Jets were loaded at every position except CB, it was the final piece to their getting to and winning a SB, and there was a stud CB prospect sitting there at their pick. This draft is loaded with quality CBs. The Jets can add a very good CB anywhere between the 1st and 3rd and maybe even 4th rounds. The dropoff in talent between Lattimore and the other CBs isn't nearly as big as it is between Hooker and the rest of the FSs, Howard and the rest of the TEs, Foster and the rest of the ILBs, Adams and the rest of the SSs, or Fournette and maybe Cook and Mixon (talent only) and the rest of the RBs.
Everything you stated is very true, something people don't mention that Lattimore has terrible technique tackling/missed tackles.. Very overrated player, with injury history and little experience. The addition of Mo Cla should hopefully rule out taking a CB at #6. A lot of scouts think because you make a fair amount of interceptions, you're a star.
im very concerned with his 40 time because he will go up against receivers who run 4.4 how is he supposed to win running 4.7.
How will CB who runs a 4.70 forty and who may be a better fit in a zone coverage-type system fix the secondary?
He plays a lot faster then 4.7. Jerry Rice was really slow too Don't think he'll be there when we pick in the second anyway
