Chris is definitely not Woody, which is why I don't understand those who think Bowles job is on the line. Chris is much more patient and has 100% bought in to the "ground up" rebuild. He's going to give Bowles and Mac time to see this through.
“This was more than a blowout. This was the start of an era” Now I’ve been supporting The Jets since the early 1980’s and for the first time I genuinely believe this. That wasn’t Same Old Jets. It has started.
5 - 10? Psh Darnold will be 31, just starting to enter his prime. We got them for 15+ if Darnold pans out and if they don't luck out and get a QB of their own. You never know though, and I actually would like to see them get a FQB and have an inner city rivalry.
At 31 Darnold won't be just "entering his prime," he will be well into his prime. As for the 5-10 years, I was being conservative because just because some QBs can play very well into their late 30s doesn't mean that all can, and the Giants could always draft or trade for a QB and become good again. Hopefully, Sam will be one of those who can play well into his late 30s.
Yeah, I was making more of a tongue in cheek comment but okay... A quarterbacks prime is statistically 29 years of age, but more specifically 26 - 30 if we're being super literal.
It does seem since Monday's win, the Lions have become inexplicably worse than they were supposed to be just 3 hours prior. I'm tempering my expectations for sure. A home loss to the Dolphins would render this thrashing of the Lions much less impactful, to me.
A good friend of mine is a Lions fan.....I didn't text him after the game I waited for him to text me. Tuesday he texted me this game was " the absolute low point in the history of Lions football". I think it's a slight exaggeration ....they looked bad but hey the Jets played well - Darnold looked great, the defense as a whole seems to be jelling, the OL played very well after the first series.....that being said I expect a close game this week. We have to keep in mind this is still officially a rebuilding project.
I do like Trump and I can't deny......you're 100% correct LOL. These last 18 months or so have really been terrific for the Jets - the stars seem to be aligning. Woody leaves - 100% rebuild planned - Mac with that trade up to # 3 - Darnold is available.......things are looking up for us !
Got to love when fans of a 3 win team tell us to calm down that the Lions, a 9 win team are a shitty team. Right before they pimp their own 3 win team.
You must not remember what it felt like around here after the 2002 season with Pennington. The part before Bradway screwed up the entire offseason by allowing Coles & Thomas to go to Washington.
Time will tell. I hope Darnold is the one. BUT We've been down this road before. Getting overly giddy about a little short term success is how organizations make brain dead decisions like when Oakland paid a middle of the pack QB $25 million per year. That's just one example. A lot can happen. Time will tell.
When you've been lost in the wilderness for so long, even a glimpse of "civilization" brings excitement and relief. We should enjoy it, but realize we still have miles to go through the brush to get there.
Stop. Pennington was amazing in 2002. So much that he was drawing comparisons to Joe Montana and Pennington-to-Coles was drawing comparisons to Montana-to-Rice before Bradway screwed that up. Darnold hasn't done anything like that yet. I hope Darnold is the one but let him prove himself first.
Pennington was the real deal.. Intelligence, accuracy, technique, play action, professionalism, leadership. They found the right guy with him. 2002 was incredibly exciting. But curse of the Jets led to injury after injury. I see a lot of those good traits in Darnold again, with more athleticism to boot. Very encouraging. My mind still can't wrap around the thought of having a good QB for the next 15 years of more.
