Bowles biggest accomplishment in his 4 years as Jets HC, and I say this without any humor at all, was being namechecked by Phife in an ATCQ song before he passed away in 2016. It is eerily similar to the Mangini mention on the Sopranos, right down to the famous person doing the namechecking being a big Jets fan in real life, the format it was dropped in no longer being in existence (Sopranos/ATCQ), and the namechecker having since died.
His biggest contribution, hopefully, is helping the Jets front office realize that building up the defense at the expense of the offense is a recipe for failure. We’ll see what they’ve learned from his unfortunately overstayed tenure.
