I'm seeing it more and more. After a particularly good play...the players will run into the end zone and strike a pose. I saw one player flashing gang signs in the Colts/Titans game. It's fucking ridiculously gay.
I am absolutely sick to death of this endzone celebration. Maybe if they reserved it for the end of the game, but they do this after every fucking turnover. Hopefully it's just a fad and there will be a new popular celebration next season. Please.
I miss the days when endzone celebrations were family friendly and something you could be proud of... like when your RB would pretend to drop a dookie and then wipe his ass with the football... which he chucks into the crowd. C'mon man, these guys are just having fun. Stop being so cranky. When the Jets did this, I thought it would be a awesome mancave photo.
It’s not a celebration. It’s not supposed to be cool or creative. It’s so the players have an in-game picture together. Sue them.
What is this, the No Fun League? I think the celebrations players have been doing are hilarious. Making it fun again.
"Act like you've been there before." The refs get quite selective when it comes to penalizing for taunting/excessive celebration.
Gotta be honest. Before Crowell wiped his ass with the football I was kind of excited with the season. After that it was all downhill. Not implying cause and effect here mind you. But my appetite for rooting for the Jets went the way of bitcoin.
I'm all for celebrations, but the team photo thing really is played out. The Saints did it first and it was pretty cool at the time but it pops up in every game now. Yawn.
Totally agree. It was cool at first, but then every single team started doing it and it just got cheesy. Do something original.
Again, I don’t think this celebration is intended to be cool or original or make anyone’s “best celebrations list” I think it’s literally just so the players have a picture together to commemorate moments.
I miss Barry Sanders scoring touchdowns and just handing the ball to the official. Just my view of things. 13
I am so with you. I don't mind being happy (why wouldn't one be?), pointing at the home crowd or the away crowd at the fans of the team you're on, giving an enthusiastic yell, dancing a little or even the Packers jump to the fans on a TD, but I hate the excessive hot-dogging nonsense. Dancing on the opposing team's logo (classy Cheats), wiping your ass with a football (Crowell), Randy Moss mooning the crowd, etc. Even Shonn Greene taking a nap in the EZ was annoying to me as happy as I was with the score/win. Maybe I'm just freaking old, but I don't think so. I mean, I am old, I just don't like it.
Exactly my view as well. Just looks pro. It's why Klecko is cooler than Gastineau. Fuck all those silly celebrations...save it for the Super Bowl.
You are probably right, but I still see it as clownish. I know this is a little OT, but people can pose for silly pictures any time they want. I can't stand photo-holics aka the people that are literally obsessed with taking pictures of everything they ever do, when 99% of them will never be looked at again by anybody including the person themselves. We all know the type, the folks that take pictures of their dinner every time they eat out or need to stop activities to line up 20-30 people to take big group photos. People like that drive me up the wall, because it turns everything into an annoying process that does nothing but hinder people having fun. If I get my dinner, I want to eat it and socialize with my friends/family, not pose for a bunch of superficial pictures while the food gets cold. I'm all about enjoying the experiences themselves, rather than stressing yourself out over documenting it. Then they later look at these photos and pretend they had a good time, when they were stressing the whole time over getting the perfect pictures of the event. Maybe I'm just too cynical but that is one of those things that annoys me, I know it's a bit unrelated to what you said, I just felt like ranting
