Remember what happened to us opening day last year? That's why. It's extremely tough to win in Arrowhead, especially during the first game of the season when all the fans are pumped up. Also, they have the corners in Surtain and Law to shut down Johnson and Houshmanzadeh (if he plays) and Larry Johnson will be able to run on their defense without Thurman.
I picked the Raiders against the spread. They could indeed win outright. You know what did it for me? Philip Rivers making his first start in Oakland at night against the Raiders*. It's also Week 1 and the Raiders fans will be pumped up and goofy. New staff helps. It will be a different environment than the last night game there when the Giants won. The Raiders were done and the coaching staff was on its way out and the fans didn't seem to care too much. *I actually like Rivers and think in the long run he'll be fine, but Monday night could be rough.
