Some guys are just not cut out to be NFL HC's.

    Westoff is one of them.

It'd have been a fun ride, though. I would have loved to have seen him go off after a loss. A Denny Green or Jim Mora Sr. kind of rant. But even better. Who knows Mike might have done a good job. A lot better than some of the stiffs we hired over the years.

Wow if Westy was the Jets head coach. I could just imagine the post game press conferences and the side line meltdowns. ESPN would have loved it. Plus it would be boss to have a head coach that coached special teams instead of O or D.

Lol. There's no way he would've maintained his composure dealing with Gary Myers and these guys, lmao.

From a X and O standpoint he'd probably do a very good job as a HC. Obviously, he knows the game of football.

There is a reason why Woody didn't even offer him an interview after Mangini was fired.

Yeah, Richard Todd (thank God he did it) pushed the annoying (even worse than Gary Myers) Steve Serby into a locker in 1981. Would have loved to see a repeat esp with Mehta getting roughed up a little.

Yep, I always hated Serby after that. You could count the articles by him I've read since on one hand.
I wanted to punch Mehta in the face myself plenty of times. Lol
I've cooled off...but I wouldn't mind bitch slappin' Brian Costello. He's a true hater that guy. I don't think I've ever seen that fuck smile

I believe Westy was Asst. HC under Mangini.

Oh, and Cotchery was a total boss.

Westhoff is probably in my Top 10 list of all-time favorite Jets. He made special teams pro bowlers (and league leaders) out of guys that barely belonged in the league - and he did it his entire career.

    The TRUTH.....!
That play by Cotch embodied what it meant to "Play Like a Jet"!

I agree with this so much, that play showed the most heart any Jets player had since Chrebet retired, then they asked him to take a pay cut, then they gave huge money to Holmes, then they signed an ex prison convict, then they started showing interest in a malcontent. Then they dumped Cotch on the curb like the Tuesday trash.

Jerricho Cotchery deserved better from this team, that was terrible

It's truly a shame how Mike Tannenbaum brought in Derrick Mason and those 6 other rusty Ravens so they could get a shot at a ring. One would think that he would consult with their former coach and friend Rex Ryan, but no, Tannenbaum was too proud. He, like Idzik, just made decisions in a bubble without consulting Rex Ryan.

The saddest part of all, of course, is that those Ravens that Tannenbaum single-handedly lured to the Jets missed out on a Super Bowl ring with Baltimore in 2012.

Man, they are probably really pissed at Mike.

I'm not contestesting this, but I thought he "wanted out" of the Jets organization. What was the story, do you know? Thanx...

I'm pretty sure he wanted out because he didn't like the direction the team was going.
I don't think he was shown the respect he deserved for being the good soldier and consistent player he was for the team and that hurt him seeing these thugs they were bringing in and the way the team was being built.

Exactly! Let's compare Cotchery's play to the one Santonio made when he had possession, then got hurt, and threw possession of the football away to a SF defender. That's about all you need to know.

I think he announced his retirement like 2 years early to give the team time to find/train his replacement. When his years were up, he held fast and split. His leg cancer probably has him seeing life in terms larger than just football. Good for him.
