All he needs to do is break one and it will make it for an exiting day. We need a KR bad, really bad.
Yet another great football name. And he's also clean cut. Small and a little skinny, but that's OK. His Major was Criminal Justice. Hopefully he can make a career of getting NFL retards out of jail if it doesn't work out. He'll be richer than he ever hoped for.
I hope you meant "exciting." There have been way too many days of simply "exiting," especially early.
his 40 was good but his 3-cone time of 7.02 isn't anything special for a 5'10" 185lb RB. I hope it works out as he was targeted by the FO as a returner.
Punt returning has been brutal. No big plays plus plenty of fumbling. I'm not sure I'd put another rookie on it though. Maybe ease him in with kick returns, and let him grow into handling punts. I'd like to see what Lucky Whitehead can do on punts in meantime.
Gotta say I was really rooting for an oline selection here but this kid has some great breakaway speed. Powell on his way out soon it seems, Rawls still a question mark as far as what he will bring. Cannon could step up to be a number 3 guy at rb next year maybe. He will be a good special teams man as well.
He will be fighting with McGuire for the 3rd RB. KR is almost non-existent in the NFL anymore, so I hold 0 value in that area of helping us. Punt return on the other hand, is valuable. If he can prove to be a RELIABLE punt returner and catch the ball decent out of the backfield, he can replace McGuire. That's a big IF. I predict PS for him
WOW! I just looked at the roster, and all of those returner prospects we had are gone!!! WTF???? What's the point of carrying them during the offseason when they can't practice, and when you finally get to a point where they soon can practice and audition, you've cut them all?? Did the Jets have them all illegally catching punts so they could evaluate them? Lucky Whitehead and Andre Roberts are still on the roster, but I think all the others are gone. Jalin Marshall is no big loss. Brisly Estimé was a great returner in college. He was on IR last season. Is he not healthy? Why would they just give up on him? How about JoJo Natson? Damore'ea Stringfellow? I swear for every good move Mac makes, he makes 2-3 that are real head scratchers.
Vision and guts are more important than pure speed when it comes to returning kicks and punts. The ability to spot the seam in the coverage and the willingness to break full speed up that seam with a disregard for your own physical wellbeing. The Jets haven't had a guy like that fielding punts and kicks for quite some time - hopefully Cannon is the right guy for the job.
