Normally I wouldn't think of starting a thread for a UDFA.. but this guy is one of my favorite pickups of our entire draft, he is basically a Swiss Army knife that can play FB/RB/TE. Was projected as a 5-7 round pick most everywhere
Best Jets name since Little John Flowers. I go by looks and names for the most part. Clean cut, doesn't look like a slob, decent vertical jump.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=49s&v=IPW_cRxKehc So many of his plays he bails out his QB in big situations, also was considered the smartest player on his team.
We could really use a versatile hback TE combo player who can also contribute on specials. Been needing that forever. Let's hope Flowers is up for the role!
Very happy with this signing. I feel very confident he'll make the active roster and contribute. Flexible player who will be a grinder and provide some of that back-end magic that good teams have.
Interesting to me was that when watching Mayfield clips this guy seemed to be everywhere, but hardly a mention of him before the draft. Hope he works out.
I'm guessing they got a really good look at him while scouting Mayfield. must've caught their interest. I like the idea of a FB that can do more. Guys like Bohanon were total wastes of a roster spot.
I noticed that some teams like Arizona signed like 20+ UDFA. Do you guys think that is a smart thing to do or kind of a waste? Should the Jets have signed more?
Wouldn't be the first time I got excited about an undrafted FA fullback. Sign me up! I'm a glutton for punishment.
Excellent pickup. I was following Mayfield, so I saw a lot of him. Seems to do it all, run, block, catch. His cousin is Tre Flowers, S, of Oklahoma State drafted by Seattle. Probably some interesting family dynamics going on there. One guy I'll suggest the Jets sign is Joel Lanning of Iowa State. Talk about versatility, he played QB, RB and LB, and played them all fairly well. Surprised he wasn't drafted. Iowa State, the only team other than Georgia to beat Oklahoma this year.
