since 2006..the year we traded john ab...we have not had a dominate pass rusher..calvin pace never had more then 7 sacks in his career..we have $ 50 mill invested in gholston (may i say more)...please tell me how we are going to get one...unless a late round or undrafted free agent comes along..we wont get one...we cant afford to invest a high pick or pay for one with money we are tied in with gholston thomas and pace...thoughts?

agreed. pass rush continues to be a huge problem.

this teams has to dial up enormous blitzes in order to get pressure, which to be honest is the same thing we saw under mangini.

need a dominating individual pass rusher and some youth at DE.

I have no problems with this defense. Other then the wild pussy they have't had any trouble in the other 5 games. It's almost impossible to not give up points when your qb turns it over 5 times.

It should also be noted that we haven't had a dominant pass rush since we switched from 4-3 to 3-4.

    Disclosure: I hate the 3-4.

I know a lot of people do. And I understand where you're coming from.

But I hate the idea that without a good nose tackle your defense will suck. It's just too many eggs in one basket. Not to mention a lot of players seem to have difficulty working in a 3-4.

Problem is DE in a 3-4 is not much of a Pass Rush position
OLB is on the other hand and we arent getting the production:

Pace should blitz every play. Hes gotta get there sooner or later.
Thomas- gets pressure sometimes but then whiffs on the sacks
    Gholston- ......

Hopefully ellis will step up and apply pressure on the QB, especially if Jenkins is out for a while.

which i think is more attributed to Jenkins being rotated out to keep him fresh. Now that he is hurt i think we will see even more 4 -3

I love how we still need a pass rusher.

I don't even want to look at the combined money Pace,Gholston, and BThomas make...

    Unreal.

that must piss off the Cowboys.

its about having a strong front 7 no matter what.

what we've learned about the Jets: They have an old front 3, and the LBs minus Scott and Harris are maybe, maybe above average at times... and I mean Pace and Thomas. Gholston I hope is cut after the league goes capless, and the Jets do need a premier pass rusher from the end that teams fear. every 3-4 team that has won a SB had one. The Jets don't have anyone they can call a premier pass rusher.

We could use 2 good pass rushers. We get pressure on the QB from time to time but we cant seem to get a sack, Its like that bitch is in a bubble.

Well if you think about it most successful sacks come from the sides not up front. If you've got jenkins as your best pass rusher and as a qb you see him coming toward you. You're going to throw the ball. And 3-5 out of 10 times you'll hit someone down the field.

The strength of a good pass rush is to make the quarterback not know when he's gonna get hit. Get inside his head. And that comes from rushing the sides and containing the front. Easier said than done I guess.
