Vinatieri To The Colts WEEI's Michael Holley has reported that Adam Vinatieri has reached an agreement with the Indy Colts ugh.
I think the Pats were stupid for letting him go. DW, any news of who is going to replace him, or is someone already on their roster?
Ya know... figures all these high end kickers are FA's the year after we draft a kicker with a 2nd rounder...
Why didn't the Pats just slap him with the franchise tag? The franchise tag is the average of the top 5 salaries at the position. Vinatieri is the best player in the NFL at his position. It doesn't make sense, unless there was some deal the Pats and Vinatieri made last year like Alexander with Seattle, that said they wouldn't franchise tag him again this year (although I doubt Belichick does something like that.)
It doesnt make sense to me either. Unless...this is Belichick's most brilliant move yet. Vinatieri is still working covertly for New England. When the Colts need a big kick, and ice-for-veins Adam lines up for the kick- and misses! Wait, Vanderjact did that himself. Ok, so it doesn't make sense
YAY! No more GW FG's for the Pats. Jets announcer: In the 2006 AFC Championship Game, the Jets are leading the Pats 31-28. [insert new Pats kicker here] will try and attempt a 45 yard FG to send this game to OT. The game comes down to this, a FG. The snap is good, the kick is up and it sails WIDE TO THE LEFT! JETS WIN! JETS WIN! JETS WIN! JETS WIN! UNBELIEVABLE! WE ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL TO FACE The [insert NFC champion here]!ats_suck: Imagine that Jets fans!:jets: Patsies are doomed W/O Vinateri!
HAAAAA!!!! :breakdance: And considering that Peyton always chokes it nullifies Vinateri being clutch!!!
...Well Manning doesn't have to worry about the idiot kicker anymore. The Colts shoulda went last year and won it all.
