Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye became the 1st tandem of Rookie Safeties to start week one dating back to the NFL merger. The Jets and Maccagnan had balls going Safety rounds one & two with back to back S's. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I am glad that i was wrong. As an FSU fan i was dreaming of my boy #4 Cook coming out of the backfield in Green & White. Boy am i glad that I'm wrong, and Marcus Maye is now playing alongside of Jamal Adams. Because of these two rookies at S the Jets are up 14 on the road against Miami. Adams blitz/tipped ball turned into a Wilkerson INT & an offensive TD for our offense. Maye's INT & big return resulted in another Jets offensive TD. These two kids are both studs. That is all. We now have LSU & Gator talents roaming this defense. And Adams is an animal. Maye is a freak.
I agree these two players look to have real ability and potential, but you're a Jets fan. Surely you know not to start crowing because we're up 14 points!
Good young players! I could do without the excessive celebration by Adams everytime he does what he is supposed to do. Most of that nonsense by all the players is really boring.
Like the work these two have been putting in, to bad a great game by them was overshadowed by a piss poor performance from Skrine, and a total implosion on offense. I saw a stat that said in the 4th quarter McCown dropped back to pass like 8 times or something and the Jets lost 22 yards in those 8 dropbacks. When you have -22 passing yards for an entire quarter it's hard to put yourself in a good position to win football games.
Never thought he would be a single high safety at this level, I am very impressed by his ball skills. Malik Hooker is probably still one of the better ball-hawk safeties to come out, but man we got one hell of a "consolation prize". He's also a far better tackler then Hooker. This safety class is very special, glad we got 2 good ones. Maybe 2 of the best. Adams must get better in coverage however. He's given up big plays 3 weeks in a row.
