NT Simon, CB Xavier Coleman, and OL Braden join LB Beltre on the practice squad.

I figure Lawrence Thomas and Vander Laan (if healthy) will join soon.

What happened to the OL from Green Bay though, Geoff Gray?
He was on our practice squad before, but I no longer see him listed.
Intriguing prospect, I thought he was a good developmental signing.

Just like Jets fans to be criticizing Miami's roster while we have one of if not the worst roster in the league and picking up their scraps.

    Tannehill's salary for his 4 year contract are $18, $17.5, $18.8 and $19.5. Doesn't seem backloaded. Suh's salaries are $5, $9, $9, $9, $9 and $4. Pouncy is $9, $8, $8, $7, and $9. Wake is $7 and $8. Stills just signed a contract. His numbers are $2, $6, $8, and $7. Jones just signed also. His numbers are $10, $13, $11 and $10. What backloaded contracts are you referring to?

    What?

    2018 cap hits
    Suh: $26.1 milllion
    Tannehill: $19.8 million
    Reshad Jones: $11.5 million
    Byron Maxwell: $10 million
    Mike Pouncey: $9.8 million
    Kiko Alonso: $9.6 million

That's a cap hit of $86.6 million tied into 6 players. I believe that's about half of the cap if not a little more. Pretty poor cap management and very Tannenbaum-like.

Surprised by this. He had a good pre season. But we're actually in good shape at RB with Forte/Powell/McGuire. Pass

If you pull your head out of your ass you would have seen I wasn't criticizing their roster but commenting about how great Tanny is doing there. The fact is, he is doing what he did here. Overpaying FAs and their window is quickly closing and they will lose key players due to back loading contracts.

There is this weird hate hate relationship that Jets fans have for Tanny, Rex and Sanchez that causes an involuntary negative reaction whenever someone gives them a compliment or credits them for anything. If you pulled your head out of Tanny's ass, you'd realize that everyone loses players; it's the nature of the NFL. The key is how you replace them with younger players, particularly in the draft. That backloading contracts/cap hell argument is a tired and lazy one. Those contracts were able to be cleared off our books in 1-2 years as Idzik did and Tanny would have been able to had he remained. Tanny's downfall here, as with any GM ultimately, had far less to do with that and much more to do with how poorly he drafted later in his tenure vs early on. Had he been able to "add depth" to the roster by continually acquiring 2-3 potential starters a year via the draft he would have been able to survive when those back loading contracts came to a head. Early on he is doing that in Miami as he did here with the caveat that this year's rookies are unknowns. Look at 2015 below, he got 3 starters at premium positions, 2 of them being pro-bowl level players. We got Big Cat and really nothing else. Bad contracts or not that's not sustainable.

Devante Parker - Stud WR (2015 1st Round)
Jay Ajayi - Stud RB (2015 5th Round)
Tony Lippett - Starting CB and special teams contributor (2015 5th Round)
Larry Tunsil - Starting LT (2016 1st Round)
Kenyon Drake - 3rd down RB and special teams contributor (2016 3rd Round)
    Leonte Caroo - Back-up WR (2016 3rd Round).
    Jakeem Grant - Back-up WR (2016 6th Round).
    Charles Harris - Back-up DE (2017 1st Round)
Raekwon McMillan - Starting ILB (2017 2nd Round)
    Cordrea Tankersley - Back-up CB (2017 3rd Round)
    Isaac Isiata - Back-up OG (2017 5th Round)
    Davon Godchaux - Back-up DT (2017 5th Round)
    Vincent Taylor - Back-up DT (2017 6th Round)

Your aware that Tanny has no say on draft picks right, he's strictly the cap guy in Miami. Grier has full control of Miami's draft picks and Gase has final say on the 53 man roster.
But go ahead and credit Tanny for Grier's picks while he screws their cap like he did in NY.

The Jets have re-signed LB Bruce Carter. He replaces Lorenzo Mauldin on the roster.

Ah, maybe the release was just a veteran move so his salary isn't guaranteed for the year?
In either event I'm glad he's back. they'll need him.

I guess I'm glad they retained Maulin without eating up a roster spot.
He'll have one more shot to show something, but that's probably it.

    Cimini:

The Jets signed four more players to the practice squad: CB Terrell Sinkfield, DL Patrick Gamble, OLB Geoff Gray and WR JoJo Natson. They're up to eight players.

You've got to go with Storm Norton just for the name. If he gives up a critical sack, the headline can read: " Storm Breaks, but Skies Still Aint Sunny!"

Ok, cool they still have Geoff Gray. He's on OL, not an OLB, who they grabbed from Green Bay.

I was hoping they would sign Simon, Beltre, Coleman, and Gamble.
Lawrence Thomas and Vander Laan might make the last 2 spots, although also always good to have an ILB and RB on practice squad due to potential injury factor. I guess Firsker is done.
