LMAO that after beating the trade up drum for months so many here finally see the light The Jets and MM have never been Proactive ..NOW the Cousins pursuit is about over they HAVE to ..or be screwed outa a good QB class Can Mac and Bowles win the QB Sweepstakes or go to Palookavile??? This and the next 4 weeks should be fairly dramatic..can’t wait!
Of course, but sometimes others within the organization, the players themselves, or agents will be "anonymous sources" for reporters and word gets out anyway.
I disagree. The Jets need to get a QB in the draft even if they sign Bridgewater, and if it's true that Cousins wants only a 3-year deal and the Jets sign him, they may need to go ahead and get a QB in the draft now because they may not be in position to get one otherwise in the next 3 years, especially if the Jets build up the rest of their team and Cousins plays well.
We could be in a win-win situation. Either Mac trades up and gets our FQB prospect or he stays put and misses out on the top 3, and Bowles and he are fired. I want the QB as I think there's a good chance that Bowles will get fired anyway, and if Mac has finally learned his lesson, gets us our FQB and makes other good moves in FA, then he may finally be worth keeping.
Price should be there with our first pick in round 2, especially with the injury at the Combine. Why give up a player and a second round pick for a player we can stand Pat and take. Plus we could sign a center in free agency.
Even if Mac gets the guy he wants, you know Manish and Cimini will say that Mac wanted someone else and the SOJ crew will buy into what ever the say.
Imagine the worst case scenario happens. Mac stays put at 6, drafts a QB who turns out to be the best QB in this draft and both he and Bowles remain.......
Why do I get the feeling we are gonna be left with Teddy Bridgwater or Case Keenum and no 1st round QB.
Yeah, when you see what other teams do to position themselves in prime territory it gets really depressing being a Jets fan and watching them play it "safe" There can be no doubt now that the Bills are a very serious threat to grabbing a QB in front of the Jets.
They need OL. Maybe were targeting it at 12 overall. Now they move to 21 and also pick up a proven player.
There are two answers to your question concerning "what's the rush?" First, we've been without a potential FQB for enough years. Second, if the Jets don't get a QB this year, but add a couple of quality starters and depth in FA, then have even an average draft and get a 2-3 players who contribute, are spot starters or even starters their rookie season, and either McCown plays like he did last year, or Bridgewater comes in and plays well, the Jets will probably be drafting in the teens next season, maybe even the 20s. There's no way they'd have the ammo to trade up to get a QB next year.
I’m still confident one of Cousins or the 4 QBs in draft will be the new Jets franchise QB. At this point I.D be happy with any of them.
