Bottom line, most successful coaches in the NFL are in their first job. 6 of the 8 remaining playoff coaches. There’s a reason nobody else is interested in Mike McCarthy. He’s a mediocre coach at best.
This guy is the next mcvay. It’s him that coached Oklahoma St in the early 2000s when they were lighting up the scoreboard. He could turn Darnold into an mvp quarterback not McCarthy. Mccarthy is damaged goods
Let’s get Monken...He’s a solid blend of experience (HC at Southern Miss and lots of NFL stuff) and forward thinking/aggressiveness Would be tough to criticize this one even if you don’t love it
Mccarthy turned down advances from Zona & made it well known he was only interested in the Browns & jets gigs bc of the QB situations.. Bengals are too cheap & quirky so we can remove them from the equation. That leaves the Dolphins,Bucs & Broncos. These are the 3 teams we’re pointing to thumbing their noses at Mccarthy when we know he wasnt interested in many of the vancancies?! This is weak. If folks dont want Mccarthy so be it.But lets not act like the guy is an exiled bum. Please
We dont know that for certain bc its been suggested mccarthy pushed them back.Secondly browns looked to be hiring from within anyway. If the jets were literally the only team that had interest & mccarthy was open to offers from any teams this would make more sense. Its been well documented that mccarthy wasnt willing to go to multiple spots & he turned down a substantial offer from Arizona.
That's because most coaches in the NFL are in their first job. 25 out of 32 at the start of 2018 to be specific. That's 78%. Which is greater than the 75% of remaining playoff coaches in their first job. So you literally just proved yourself wrong.
Just what we need...yet another first-time HC at any level with a defensive background. SMH Some damn fans never freaking learn.
Monken, not Monten. I'd prefer Greg Williams or maybe another good DC who has more experience, but would settle for Richard.
