I’m just not sure I even agree with the cultural part all that much. People were still getting arrested in the offseason. Making stupid decisions on the field that a team with the right kind of culture doesn’t make. Mayes comments about players mailing it in last season. The stupid comments to the media after the Lions game. The comments about not having a plan for Mayfield, etc. A coach taking a cheap shot at a division rival, funny as it may have been, just becomes bulletin board material.

And all that stuff while posting losing record after losing record.

No, there’s really not much about the culture of this team that’s impressive in any way. A good culture leads to success, which is one thing the Jets do not have.

    Oh god no...

Cleveland's offense was extremely predictable this year. Add that into his constant in fighting beteen players and other coaches over the years and I'd stay far away from this guy.

Thats not saying much, but Hugh Jackson is absoulte garbage and might be the one coach, or ex-coach now who is worse than Bowles.
Haley has had problems everywhere he’s been. Dont remember his time with the Jets to be honest, but more recently he was dog shit as HC in Cleveland, and has had mutinies as OC in Pitt and Cle. NO THANKS.

Nice catch there jetophile! I did write those words that with that in mind. All these years later, I still have that and also "maybe something good, maybe something bad" as Ren & Stimpy vocabulary that's still in my head. I guess I need a "history eraser button". LOL

Hard pass. Besides his personal issues, he seems to want to force his system on a QB

The trend is to build your offense around your QB

    I prefer the latter.

Basic managent is- put your “staff” in the best position to succeed.

Whether we like that or not, it works.

There are worse choices they could make, I think Rich Kotite is still alive, but there are certainly better options as well.

Reied had final say over player personal, including draft picks, .Dorsey was primarily responsible for Cap management , and he failed miserably.
The Chiefs had to release several players due to his miss management of the cap.
That was the main reason for his firing.
He was also known to be a dick and was disliked by players and coaches in KC.
Think that's why Haley was fired from the Browns.
Two abrasive personalties and a bad owner who is very much like Woody.
Who ever gets to talk to him last, is who he goes with.

Cleveland has the same organizational structure as the Jets, both Dorsey and Jackson reported to Haslam

I stand corrected. Thanks. Then NC point about a mediocre record of say 6 wins will keep Todd is on the money. Look at what it took to fire Jackson. Ownership is a big problem when they don't demand more.

It's funny, I've also been thinking that he'd be a good guy to go after ever since he left the Cardinals. I know he has a rep for being a total jackass and burning bridges wherever he goes but I also think he might just be the right kind of crazy.

The Jets hiring a Cleveland coach reminds of the Browns hiring Mangini after his incredible run with the Jets. It seems as if some franchises just exist to employ and recycle these losers.

Funny thing is, I think the OC that would have been right for Darnold was....Johnny Morton. Bowles you Sly Fox!

Morton would have been terrible for Darnold. He could never get a play called . With a rookie, you have to get the play in early.

If Morton would have been terrible, what adjective do you have for Bates?

I would hire Mangini an as assistant GM in charge of personnel selection, trades and draft strategy matters. Then bring in an experienced Executive in charge of all football matters, including selecting the new coaching staff. Keep the Johnsons out of football matters.

Bates has been bad, but at least he is getting the plays called in giving Darnold a chance.
Players are not executing. Long can't snap, Receivers dropping balls and Darnold, today especially, staring down his receiver and his passes we're off.
He should have had Darnold under center.
Bowles should have had long on the bench.
But Bates sucking, does not make Morton good
